About The Position

This role offers a hybrid work arrangement, with three days in the office and two days remote. The engineer will work on challenging assignments including designing HVAC systems, investigating, troubleshooting, and solving a wide variety of HVAC engineering issues. Responsibilities include developing integrated HVAC systems such as Commercial/Industrial Ventilation Systems, Control room HVAC, Laboratory HVAC, Chilled water system design, and Heating system design. The role also involves providing support in the planning, scheduling, and conducting of detailed design phases, performing design calculations, developing detailed system designs, preparing technical specifications for HVAC equipment, and preparing engineering studies. Additionally, the engineer will support other engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers to ensure complete and timely designs, and assist senior engineers with reviews of existing facilities to propose upgrades and replacements, potentially presenting findings and recommendations to clients and peers. Familiarity with ASHRAE and Current HVAC Industry Codes and Standards is expected.

Requirements

  • BS in Mechanical Engineering from an ABET Engineering Accreditation Commission-approved program
  • 5+ years of relevant HVAC system, ventilation systems, heating systems, and chilled water system design experience for laboratory and/or industrial facilities
  • Proficiency in TRACE 700 or Carrier HAP
  • Ability to create design flow diagrams, and Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs)
  • Prior knowledge of relevant codes and standards applicable to HVAC and ventilation system
  • Familiarity with ASHRAE and Current HVAC Industry Codes and Standards

Responsibilities

  • Designing of HVAC systems
  • Investigating, trouble-shooting, and solving a wide variety of HVAC engineering issues
  • Developing integrated HVAC systems including Commercial/Industrial Ventilation Systems, Control room HVAC, Laboratory HVAC, Chilled water system design, and Heating system design
  • Providing support in the planning, scheduling, conducting, or coordinating of the detailed design phases of all aspects of facility engineering work
  • Perform design calculations and develop detailed system design
  • Prepare technical specifications for HVAC equipment
  • Prepare engineering studies
  • Provide support to other engineers, project managers, client personnel, and suppliers to assure a complete and timely design
  • Assist senior engineers with reviews of existing facilities to propose upgrades and replacements, and may present findings and recommendations to clients and peers
  • Lead others in taking engineering problems from issue to solution by setting expectations for using data and modern tools such as automation and AI to improve workflows, reduce rework, and deliver cost-effective designs
  • Oversee engineers who program or script (e.g., Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel) to automate engineering tasks, with review of automated outputs
