About The Position

This senior engineering position offers challenging opportunities in structural engineering for new nuclear facilities and upgrades and modifications to nuclear power plants. The engineer will collaborate with structural engineers, interface with other engineering disciplines, and guide less experienced project team members. The role involves applying expertise in materials, structural analysis, structural steel design, and reinforced concrete design across projects for a range of clients. The engineer will prepare and review design calculations, develop specifications, support drawing development, and use computer tools to analyze and design steel frames, connections, concrete members, equipment and piping supports, and foundations. Analyses include wind and seismic loading. The role may involve travel to client and vendor offices for design reviews and to plant sites for construction coordination and field verification of designs. The position follows a hybrid schedule, requiring in-office work three days per week at the Sargent & Lundy office in Peachtree Corners, Georgia. Sargent & Lundy’s Nuclear Power Group works on nuclear engineering, design, and licensing, including advanced reactor technologies, existing plant life extensions and modernization, and new-build projects.
