About The Position

The Senior HR Generalist plays a key role in supporting and advancing Commonwealth’s talent strategy through employee engagement, performance management, organizational support, benefits administration, and People & Culture initiatives. This position partners closely with leaders and employees to enhance the employee experience, strengthen talent practices, and support a high-performing, growth-oriented culture. This role requires a balance of strategic thinking, employee advocacy, operational excellence, and relationship management. The ideal candidate is proactive, collaborative, and passionate about developing people, supporting employees, administering competitive benefit programs, and driving People initiatives that align with business goals.

Requirements

  • 5+ years of progressive HR experience required.
  • Experience working within an HRIS platform required.

Nice To Haves

  • Bachelor’s degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field preferred.
  • Experience supporting talent management, employee relations, benefits administration, and performance management initiatives preferred.
  • Experience supporting leave administration and HR compliance preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with leaders to support talent management initiatives including performance management, employee engagement, retention strategies, and workforce planning.
  • Provide coaching and guidance to managers on employee relations matters, leadership best practices, team dynamics, and performance conversations.
  • Support employee engagement initiatives that strengthen culture, morale, and organizational effectiveness.
  • Assist in identifying talent gaps and organizational development opportunities across departments.
  • Partner with leadership to support onboarding and employee integration efforts that drive engagement and retention.
  • Support organizational change initiatives and help drive adoption of People & Culture programs and processes.
  • Administer employee benefit programs including medical, dental, vision, life insurance, disability, retirement plans, wellness initiatives, and voluntary benefits.
  • Serve as a primary point of contact for employee questions related to benefits, HR policies, and employee support matters.
  • Coordinate annual open enrollment activities including employee communication, system updates, and vendor coordination.
  • Maintain benefit eligibility records, enrollment data, and HRIS accuracy.
  • Partner with benefit brokers and vendors to resolve escalated employee issues, billing discrepancies, and coverage concerns.
  • Support leave administration processes including FMLA, ADA accommodations, short-term disability, parental leave, and other leave programs.
  • Assist in ensuring compliance with federal, state, and local regulations related to benefits and leave administration.
  • Develop employee communications related to benefits, wellness, and People & Culture initiatives.
  • Serve as a trusted HR resource for employees and leaders regarding policies, procedures, employee concerns, and workplace practices.
  • Support performance management processes including goal setting, performance reviews, feedback discussions, and employee coaching.
  • Assist with employee relations matters by conducting investigations, documenting findings, and recommending appropriate resolutions.
  • Collaborate with recruiting and hiring managers to support hiring initiatives and workforce needs as necessary.
  • Participate in HR projects focused on process improvement, employee experience, and operational effectiveness.
  • Support compliance reporting, audits, and HR documentation processes.
  • Maintain accurate employee and benefits data within HRIS and vendor systems.
  • Generate and analyze HR metrics related to turnover, retention, benefits utilization, engagement, and workforce trends.
  • Provide insights and recommendations that support business and talent decisions.
  • Assist with HR process optimization and continuous improvement initiatives.
