Requirements

  • University degree or college diploma in HR, employment law, or related field is required
  • 7+ years in a Human Resources role is required
  • Strong knowledge of Canadian Employment law, HR legislation, Health & Safety legal requirements
  • Employee focused and strong experience with dealing with employees’ issues
  • Ability to interact with members of the organization at all levels while respecting confidentiality
  • Able to multitask, prioritize, and manage time efficiently
  • Excellent leadership, team building, operational and management skills to mentor and lead staff
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Able to analyze problems and strategize for better solutions
  • Successful candidates will be required to provide photo ID, banking details, a valid SIN number, and (if applicable) a valid work permit

Responsibilities

  • Build effective relationships with varying departments to understand their business goals and to proactively identify and implement solutions that align with organizational strategies.
  • Maintain organizational human capital by establishing and analyzing exit interviews and recommending changes.
  • Manage and oversee human resources external audits.
  • Ensure legal compliance by monitoring and implementing applicable federal and provincial human resource employment standard requirements; maintain records; and represent the organization at hearings.
  • Provide counsel and guidance to the site leadership team on employee relations issues; promote constructive employee relations approaches and practices.
  • Maintain guidelines by preparing, updating, and recommending human resource policies and procedures.
  • Ensure employee relation issues and investigations are addressed in a timely manner for the site.
  • Maintain updated professional and technical knowledge of the human resources industry.
  • Work with the Health & Safety Manager to manage escalated occupational injury/illness claims and administer Workers’ Compensation matters.
  • Oversee the annual engagement survey completion and engagement action planning.
  • Oversee and manage the compensation program and practices.
  • Review and execute site-wide bonus and KPI plans for relevant positions.
  • Lead and represent the HR department in regular site events and meetings.
  • Lead and facilitate the annual site-wide performance review and performance management program.
  • Overseeing HR generalists for the site
  • Compliance with all rules & policies regarding health safety, occupational safety, environmental safety, food safety, legal regulations, company requirements, etc.
  • Compliance with the Company's Integrated Management Systems which includes, but is not limited to Production, Quality, Food Safety & GMP.
  • Other duties as assigned.
