About The Position

Moultrie is hiring a Senior Hardware Test Reliability & Compliance Engineer to ensure its outdoor cameras survive real-world conditions and obtain required product certifications before shipment. This dual-mandate role owns the reliability test program and the full certification lifecycle, from identifying requirements and defining test plans through coordinating labs, partners, submissions, and approvals. The engineer works with ODM/JDM partners, external test labs, carriers, regulatory bodies, engineering teams, and program leadership, providing clear visibility into test and certification status and risks. The role develops reliability plans and acceptance criteria for each program phase, directs test execution, investigates failures and field escapes, verifies corrective actions, maintains risk registers and reliability models, and monitors field data. It also manages carrier, regulatory, and channel partner certification requirements; develops execution plans; coordinates pre-certification and formal testing; and prepares submission packages, technical files, reports, labeling artwork, and declarations. Success in the first 90 days includes completing a certification requirement matrix for the current roadmap, setting and scheduling reliability testing for the current development build, establishing a compliance and reliability dashboard used by program and engineering leadership, and identifying certification lead-time risks with their schedule impacts.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Systems Engineering, or a related technical field, or equivalent practical experience.
  • At least 7 years of reliability and/or compliance engineering experience in consumer electronics, IoT, or outdoor/field-deployed hardware.
  • Hands-on experience developing reliability test plans and conducting HALT, HASS, accelerated life testing, drop/shock, IP testing, and thermal/humidity cycling.
  • Direct experience obtaining FCC certifications (Parts 15, 22/24/27) and familiarity with the TCB submission process.
  • Hands-on experience with PTCRB and/or GCF certification for cellular devices, including module- versus device-level certification dependencies.
  • Familiarity with carrier device approval programs for at least one major U.S. carrier: AT&T, T-Mobile, or Verizon.
  • Working knowledge of CE/RED, RoHS, REACH, WEEE, IC Canada, and other international regulatory requirements for connected devices sold in North America and Europe.
  • Experience managing external test labs and certification bodies, including scope negotiation, scheduling, and results review.
  • Experience managing channel partner compliance requirements, including retailer qualification programs and private-label obligations.
  • Strong understanding of relevant standards, including IEC 60068, IEC 62368, IEC 60529 (IP ratings), MIL-STD-810, and JEDEC.
  • Ability to read schematics, mechanical drawings, and test reports, and translate standards into product specifications and test criteria.
  • Experience building and maintaining project-tracking dashboards using Excel, Power BI, Smartsheet, Notion, Airtable, or similar tools, with focus on milestone visibility and lead-time risk.
  • Strong organizational and communication skills, including the ability to manage multiple certification tracks and provide program managers with reliable status data.

Nice To Haves

  • CRE (Certified Reliability Engineer) or other regulatory compliance credentials.
  • Experience with LTE-M or NB-IoT device certifications and carrier IoT-specific approval tracks.
  • Familiarity with Bluetooth, Wi-Fi (FCC Part 15B/E), and multi-radio certification.
  • Battery safety experience, including IEC 62133 and UN 38.3, for battery-powered devices.
  • Background in camera, trail camera, or outdoor/ruggedized consumer electronics.
  • Exposure to CTIA or similar industry qualification programs.
  • Experience with reliability data analysis and failure-rate modeling, such as Weibull analysis.
  • Familiarity with Amazon, Walmart, or other major retailer compliance programs, such as Amazon Device Certification or Walmart PEARL.
  • Experience with PLM or document management systems for certification records across product revisions.
  • Familiarity with APAC-based ODM/JDM partner management.

Responsibilities

  • Build reliability test plans for environmental, mechanical, electrical, and operational stresses, including temperature cycling, humidity, vibration, drop, ingress protection, HALT/HASS, and long-duration endurance testing.
  • Set reliability requirements and pass/fail acceptance criteria at the beginning of each program and carry them through Prototype, EVT, DVT, PVT, and mass production.
  • Manage ODM/JDM test execution by translating test plans into work packages, providing technical direction, and ensuring protocols are followed without deviation.
  • Lead root-cause investigations into test failures and field escapes, coordinate corrective actions with mechanical, electrical, and firmware engineering, and verify fixes through retesting.
  • Maintain a reliability risk register covering open failure modes, corrective action status, and residual risk throughout product development.
  • Build and maintain reliability models and failure-rate estimates, and track post-launch field reliability data to identify systemic trends.
  • Maintain a complete product certification requirement matrix covering carrier, government and regulatory, and channel partner requirements.
  • Create certification execution plans specifying requirements, reviewers, submission package contents, lead times, costs, and target completion dates.
  • Manage relationships with carrier partners, regulatory bodies, test labs, and channel partner program managers, while monitoring changing requirements.
  • Run pre-certification testing, including pre-scan EMC, SAR, and carrier protocol conformance, to identify issues before formal lab submissions.
  • Prepare and coordinate certification submission packages, technical files, test reports, labeling artwork, and regulatory declarations.
  • Establish a certification requirement matrix, a reliability test plan and ODM test schedule, a working compliance and reliability dashboard, and clear visibility into certification lead-time risks during the first 90 days.
