About The Position

Schneider Electric is seeking a highly experienced Senior Certification Engineer to lead regulatory compliance, product certification, and safety evaluation for PLC-based industrial control products used in hazardous locations. The role ensures products meet global electrical safety, intrinsic safety, and environmental compliance standards, including CSA C22.2, FM 3600/3610, IECEx/ATEX 60079-7, IACS E10, G3 environmental requirements, CCCEx, CE, and RoHS. The engineer leads global certification programs, interprets standards, manages technical submissions, and develops certification plans, gap assessments, and design reviews. They advise engineering teams on design-for-compliance, review schematics, PCB layouts, component choices, and mechanical designs, and define testing and validation strategies. They also oversee safety, EMC, environmental, and reliability testing; interpret results; and prepare compliance reports and engineering justifications. The position serves as a primary contact for certification agencies and laboratories, coordinating audits, technical meetings, factory inspections, and responses to nonconformities and requests for action. It maintains listings and required certification documentation throughout the product lifecycle, and works across hardware, firmware, mechanical engineering, manufacturing, and quality teams. The role also mentors junior engineers and advises on supplier selection, component obsolescence, and design changes.
