About The Position

The Senior Hardware Design Engineer will work in Raytheon's Receiver, Exciter & Processing Architecture (REPA) Department to design and develop digital/analog hardware and subsystems for current and next-generation radar receiver, exciter, and transmitter products. The role uses knowledge of Circuit Card Assemblies (CCAs) and analytical skills to create products for signal processing, command, and control applications. The position includes designing mixed-signal hardware for new and existing products. The engineer collaborates with systems, mechanical, manufacturing, and electrical engineers on design trades, requirements flow-down, electrical analysis, test-plan development, and delivery of hardware that meets program requirements. The role also provides technical support during transition to production and for production activities. Opportunities may include leading small projects or processes. The position is 1st shift and 100% onsite in Tewksbury or Marlborough, Massachusetts, with anticipated travel between Massachusetts sites and occasional travel to supplier, integration, and customer sites. Relocation may be offered subject to eligibility. An active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is required before the start date; the candidate must be able to obtain an interim Secret clearance, and U.S. citizenship is required.

Requirements

  • Typically, a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, or Mathematics (STEM) and at least 5 years of relevant experience.
  • Combined experience in two or more of the following: digital design from requirements development through build and test; RF/analog design from requirements development through build and test; or production testing and troubleshooting of circuits.
  • Experience with design simulation tools such as HyperLynx or LTSpice and analytical tools such as Matlab.
  • Experience with design development tools such as Mentor Graphics' Xpedition schematic capture and layout.
  • Ability to obtain and maintain an interim Secret U.S. government-issued security clearance before the start date.
  • U.S. citizenship, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • An active and transferable U.S. government-issued security clearance is required prior to the start date.

  • Experience interfacing with and testing digital-to-analog converters (D/A) and analog-to-digital converters (A/D).
  • Experience with high-speed digital interfaces such as JESD204B, DDR3 or DDR4 memory, SERDES, 10G+ Ethernet, or Fiber Channel.
  • Background in FPGA hardware inference designs, including SERDES and LVDS chip-to-chip and board-to-board.
  • Experience allocating and flowing down requirements from system to component level.
  • Experience with cost estimating and budget and schedule management.
  • Laboratory experience using logic analyzers, oscilloscopes, a phase noise analyzer (PNA), and a spectrum analyzer to test and verify digital and mixed-signal circuits and systems.
  • Experience in a production environment.
  • Experience in technical writing, proposal writing, and oral presentations.
  • Active or existing Secret U.S. security clearance.
  • Team leadership skills, including cost and schedule management, and proposal writing and presentation experience.

Responsibilities
