About The Position

As a national health solutions partner, Medavie puts people first in everything they do. The Senior Group Underwriting Best Practice Analyst will be responsible for leading and executing initiatives with a strong focus on documentation, processes, tools, and training & development. This role requires research, monitoring, and resolving/aligning market differences and gaps. The analyst will play a key role in improving efficiency within Group Underwriting tools and processes, while supporting growth and persistency strategies.

Requirements

  • Post-secondary diploma or degree with a focus in Business Administration, Mathematics, Actuarial Science, Statistics, or related field.
  • Minimum 5 years of progressive Group Underwriting experience, including exposure to various funding arrangements.
  • Demonstrated understanding of customer needs and underwriting processes, with a solid awareness of related business areas.
  • Broad understanding of how internal and external processes operate at Medavie Blue Cross.
  • Strong underwriting and business acumen, with the ability to identify root causes of issues, evaluate alternative solutions and make sound, practical recommendations.
  • Clear and confident verbal and written communication, with the ability to adapt messaging to different audiences and situations.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple tasks, milestones, and deadlines.
  • High levels of initiative, accountability, and perseverance.
  • Self-directed, results-oriented, and highly dependable.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of how their role contributes to the overall Group Underwriting function.
  • Proactively supports others in resolving issues and improving processes.
  • Fully bilingual (French/English): English proficiency is required to perform the duties of the role, which include daily collaboration with teams and partners outside Québec who operate primarily in English.

Responsibilities

  • Support the Group Underwriting leadership team by aligning processes and tools, including: Online GUM, Access, Renewal Template Quote Template, Manual Rates Calculator, Case Initiative Identifier.
  • Execution of the Group Underwriting Best Practice roadmap.
  • Lead and implement best practice initiatives within the Underwriting team.
  • Design and facilitate a training curriculum to support underwriters from entry level to experienced roles.
  • Conduct quality reviews of complex underwriting cases and identify opportunities for continuous improvement.
  • Release the monthly Underwriting Bulletin when the Best Practice Analyst is unavailable.
  • Perform user acceptance testing (UAT) for underwriting tools.
  • Act as a liaison with internal partners (e.g., EIS, Finance, IT) and lead or contribute to mini projects as required.
  • Provide guidance and support to the Group Underwriting Best Practice Analyst, as needed.
