About The Position

WeMaintain is hiring a Senior Fullstack Engineer for its Product & Engineering team. This is a fully remote role open across Europe and a hands-on individual-contributor position with no direct reports. The engineer will report to the VP of Engineering and join a 20-person team that expects to grow by 50% over the next year. The role centers on owning problems end to end—from shaping the problem with product managers and business stakeholders through implementation and production release. Engineers work across the stack and collaborate in small, bespoke teams that form around topics. The position also offers opportunities to improve the company’s engineering standards, tooling, monorepo, developer experience, and production resilience. The technology environment uses TypeScript throughout, with Node.js, NestJS, microservices, a monorepo, federated GraphQL, AWS, EKS, Lambda, PostgreSQL, TypeORM, dbt, BigQuery, Looker, and a purpose-built IoT time-series engine. Front ends include Angular micro-frontends and a React Native application. Specific experience with these technologies is not required if the candidate has built and owned equivalent systems elsewhere. Potential work includes normalizing lift-failure categories to support automated diagnosis and quoting, converting high-volume IoT telemetry into actionable information for field engineers, and introducing agent-in-the-loop workflows into back-office operations. The role is fully remote, with a virtual office and Discord-based collaboration and in-person team gatherings at least three times a year. English is the working language.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience building and running production software.
  • Experience owning work from problem statement through production, rather than only completing assigned tickets.
  • Comfort working across the stack, without being precious about which layer or area is assigned.
  • Strong TypeScript skills and a deep conceptual understanding of modern backend architecture.
  • Care about both software usefulness and engineering quality.
  • Ability to communicate directly with non-technical stakeholders, understand their needs, and develop solutions that improve on their initial requests.
  • Comfort and initiative working fully remotely.
  • English proficiency sufficient for English to be the working language.
  • Experience with WeMaintain’s specific frameworks and tools is not required if the candidate has built and owned equivalent systems elsewhere.

Nice To Haves

  • An ownership mindset, such as having started, run, or helped build something and judged work by its impact.
  • Experience shipping a React Native app used regularly by people in challenging conditions.
  • Experience in an operations-heavy industry such as field service, logistics, industrial, or energy.
  • Experience putting AI-driven workflows into production.
  • Experience building internal tooling, code generation, or developer-experience improvements adopted by other engineers.
  • Experience with IoT, telemetry, or time-series data at scale.

Responsibilities

  • Own features end to end, from defining the problem and shaping a solution through implementation and production release.
  • Work across the full technology stack and take responsibility for both backend and frontend work as needed.
  • Collaborate with product managers, company executives, and operational stakeholders to shape work and validate that problems are framed correctly.
  • Improve engineering standards, tooling, the monorepo, developer experience, and production resilience.
  • Build software that supports operational workflows, including work involving lift-failure classification, IoT telemetry, and agent-in-the-loop back-office processes.
  • Stay connected and proactive when working remotely.
