Tavily•New York City, NY

About The Position

Tavily is hiring a Senior Full Stack Engineer to build how developers and AI agents access its agentic web infrastructure. The role is based in the New York office and is hybrid with the NYC team. The team owns the main API gateway, customer platform for keys, usage, and teams, identity and enterprise SSO, and public product interfaces including SDKs, CLI, MCP servers, and developer tools. The engineer will work closely with product, design, and engineers across R&D.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of full-stack engineering experience on customer-facing products or high-throughput APIs, in any mix of frontend and backend.
  • Strong backend engineering skills, ideally in Python; Go, C++, or C experience with some Python experience also fits.
  • Experience building and operating latency-sensitive, high-QPS APIs, including caching, asynchronous work, queues, retries, rate limiting, long-running jobs, and webhooks.
  • Experience shipping production UI with a modern frontend framework such as React, Next.js, or TanStack, ideally using TypeScript.
  • Experience building data-heavy interfaces such as tables, charts, and filters that remain fast.
  • Ability to work effectively in a mature, user-facing system: ramp up quickly in a complex codebase, ship safely under real traffic, and participate in on-call operations.
  • Strong product and design sense for both interfaces and APIs.

Nice To Haves

  • Led a project or mentored others.
  • Taken a product from 0 to launch.
  • Built API-key issuance and lifecycle management.
  • Built MCP servers or tools for AI agents.
  • Worked on billing or usage metering with Stripe, Metronome, Orb, or similar.

Responsibilities

  • Design and ship features end to end, from interfaces to the services and data behind them.
  • Build and improve a high-traffic, low-latency, reliable API gateway.
  • Create fast, usable interfaces for usage, billing, and team data, including tables, charts, filters, and forms.
  • Shape the self-service journey from signup through activation.
  • Build and operate identity and team access in production, including OAuth and OIDC, role-based access, SAML SSO, and SCIM.
  • Control feature access using feature flags for staged rollouts and entitlements after rollout.
  • Improve the public interfaces used by developers and agents, including SDKs, CLI, MCP servers, and documentation.
  • Take work from design through production, explain trade-offs to partners, navigate ambiguity, and use AI tools in the development process.

Benefits

  • 100% company-paid medical, dental, and vision coverage for employees and families.
  • 401(k) plan with up to 4% company match and immediate vesting.
  • Paid parental leave: 20 weeks for primary caregivers and 12 weeks for secondary caregivers.
  • Remote work reimbursement of up to $85 per month for mobile and internet.
  • Company-paid short-term disability, long-term disability, and life insurance coverage.
