About The Position

MarketTime is a growing B2B ecommerce SaaS company whose multi-tenant platform supports enterprise customers and processes sensitive financial data, including credit card payments, while maintaining PCI DSS compliance. Its web applications serve brands, sales representatives, and retail buyers who browse catalogs, build orders, and manage their businesses. The Senior Frontend Engineer will build and evolve the user-facing side of MarketTime’s ecommerce platform. The role will work with existing Angular applications and help shape a next-generation frontend platform, potentially React-based, for a fast and consistent experience across desktop, tablet, and mobile, including installable and offline-capable experiences. The engineer will collaborate with Product, Design, and backend engineers to turn complex B2B workflows into intuitive, performant interfaces, while helping define frontend architecture and standards, mentoring engineers, and advancing engineering practices. MarketTime describes its engineering team as fully distributed and values ownership, collaboration, continuous improvement, and building software the right way. The role takes features from design through production, including monitoring and operational support, and may participate in an on-call rotation as needed.

Requirements

  • Experience operating as a senior engineer or technical lead on production frontend applications.
  • Strong expertise with React and its modern ecosystem, including hooks, functional components, context, and current state-management and data-fetching patterns.
  • Strong proficiency with TypeScript, including idiomatic use of its type system.
  • Working knowledge of Angular, or ability to become productive quickly in an existing Angular codebase.
  • Deep understanding of HTML, CSS, browser APIs, and the browser rendering model.
  • Experience building responsive interfaces for desktop, tablet, and mobile devices.
  • Experience consuming and helping shape REST and/or GraphQL APIs.
  • Experience with modern frontend testing tools such as Vitest or Jest, React Testing Library, and Playwright.
  • Professional hands-on use of AI coding tools, sound judgment about when to trust, verify, or discard their output, and understanding of data that must not be shared with them.
  • Experience with modern build tooling such as Vite or webpack and CI/CD platforms such as GitHub Actions.
  • Solid understanding of web security fundamentals, including XSS, CSRF, CSP, and secure token handling.
  • Excellent communication, collaboration, and problem-solving skills.
  • Track record of mentoring engineers and leading technical initiatives.
  • Self-motivated and effective in a remote-first environment.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience building Progressive Web Apps, including service workers, offline storage such as IndexedDB, and background sync.
  • Experience with React Native and/or Expo, including shipping apps to the App Store or Google Play.
  • Experience testing React Native apps with tools such as Jest, React Native Testing Library, Detox, or Maestro.
  • Experience sharing code and components between web and native applications.
  • Experience leading or contributing to a large-scale frontend framework migration.
  • Experience building and maintaining design systems or component libraries.
  • Experience building multi-tenant or white-labeled SaaS applications.
  • Experience with frontend observability tools such as Datadog RUM or Sentry.
  • Understanding of payment processing systems, PCI DSS, and secure checkout flows.
  • Background in ecommerce, B2B wholesale, or field sales applications.
  • Familiarity with API security concepts, including OAuth 2.0, JWT, authentication, and authorization.
  • Experience establishing team practices for AI-assisted development, such as shared context and conventions files, review standards for AI-generated code, and sensitive-data guardrails.
  • Working knowledge of Java/Spring Boot or other backend technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Design, develop, and maintain customer-facing web applications for buyers, sales representatives, and brands.
  • Help define the architecture of the next-generation frontend platform, including component design, state management, routing, data fetching, and build tooling.
  • Evaluate and implement cross-platform approaches, including Progressive Web Apps and React Native/Expo, for desktop, tablet, and mobile experiences.
  • Build offline-capable, resilient experiences for users with intermittent connectivity.
  • Build and maintain a reusable, accessible component library and design system.
  • Maintain existing Angular applications and help lead a possible migration to new technology, such as React.
  • Collaborate with backend engineers to design REST and GraphQL APIs suited to frontend needs.
  • Ensure frontend code meets PCI DSS and security requirements.
  • Own frontend performance, including bundle size, rendering performance, Core Web Vitals, and perceived responsiveness on real-world devices and networks.
  • Promote engineering best practices, including code reviews, automated testing, CI/CD, observability, and documentation.
  • Use AI-assisted development tools to accelerate delivery while ensuring the correctness, security, and maintainability of shipped work.
  • Take ownership of features from design through production, including monitoring and operational support.
  • Work in small, incremental pull requests with an emphasis on code reviews, automated testing, and continuous delivery.
  • Mentor and support engineers through technical leadership, design reviews, and pair programming.
  • Troubleshoot production issues and participate in an on-call rotation as needed.
