About The Position

Provectus is hiring a hands-on Senior Forward Deployed AI Engineer to embed with enterprise customers in industries such as banking, insurance, and healthcare, understand their operational work, and build and deploy production AI systems using Claude and AWS. The role carries ownership from framing an ambiguous business problem through implementation and production delivery, with the engineer working as part of the customer’s team rather than as an external project vendor.

Engineers begin engagements by learning the customer’s work and constraints from the operator’s perspective, then rebuild functions alongside the client and a Forward Deployed Executive. Provectus provides industry Blueprints—working systems previously deployed for customers—as a starting point, and learnings from engagements feed back into those systems. The role contributes to Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC, and Blueprint Activations in Financial Services and Healthcare, and helps shape enterprise AI adoption, delivery tooling, and practice frameworks.

The position offers access to frontier Claude models through Provectus’s Anthropic partnership, opportunities to work alongside senior forward deployed engineers, and a platform for certification, talks, open-source contributions, and published work. It is full-time and includes on-site visits to client facilities and the company’s NYC office one day per week. The stated base salary is $180,000–$200,000, with bonuses and OTE up to $250,000. Provectus does not offer visa sponsorship.

Requirements

• Typically 7 or more years of software-building experience, including substantial accountable production coding experience; must be hands-on and intend to remain hands-on.
• Willingness and demonstrated ability to understand unfamiliar business functions and become conversant in them quickly before writing code.
• Experience shipping GenAI or LLM systems to production, including handling challenges that arise after a prototype works.
• Experience building or owning an evaluation suite for a non-deterministic system and explaining what was measured and why.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and ability to become productive in an unfamiliar codebase or language.
• Proficiency in Python and/or TypeScript.
• Experience delivering cloud-native systems on AWS, including operational considerations for systems inherited by others.
• Pre-sales experience and ability to engage senior stakeholders, including business-unit heads and CTOs.
• Comfort with ambiguity, ownership, and closing gaps in engagements that begin underspecified.
• Hands-on experience with Claude, Claude Code, and Cowork, including skills, workflows, MCP, integrations, connectors, or custom harnesses.

Nice To Haves

• Production experience with containers and orchestration, such as Kubernetes or ECS, and CI/CD.
• Infrastructure-as-code experience with AWS CDK, CloudFormation, or Terraform.
• Open-source contributions or public writing about applied AI.
• Experience with GCP or Azure.

Responsibilities

• Embed with customer teams and learn their operations and constraints from the inside before designing solutions.
• Rebuild business functions from first principles alongside customers and a Forward Deployed Executive, and personally implement the resulting systems.
• Own engagements autonomously from problem framing through production deployment, including determining the method of work.
• Deliver production GenAI and LLM systems using Claude and AWS, including evaluating system quality and addressing challenges that arise beyond prototyping.
• Deliver Cowork Activation, Agentic SDLC, and Blueprint Activations for Financial Services and Healthcare.
• Use and improve Provectus industry Blueprints, incorporating field learnings into the baseline systems.
• Help enterprises adopt AI from strategy through first deployment.
• Help build tooling and frameworks for Provectus’s growing AI delivery practice.
• Engage in pre-sales and communicate credibly with senior business and technical stakeholders.
