About The Position

Performs general food service work involving food preparation and service and care of the food service area. The role includes varied tasks and may involve minor supervisory duties. Work is performed under supervision and within established procedures. The worker operates and cleans food service equipment independently, performs routine tasks consistently, and maintains sanitation in kitchen and food preparation areas. The position applies food safety policies and positively influences co-workers.

Requirements

• 10th grade education or equivalent.
• One year of related experience; additional education and/or related experience may substitute on a year-for-year basis.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and serve food and care for the food service area.
• Operate and clean food service equipment without supervision.
• Clean and sanitize kitchen and food preparation areas, including custodial duties, thoroughly and consistently.
• Apply food safety policies and positively influence co-workers.
• Supervise and participate in food preparation, meal presentation, front-of-the-house maintenance, and cleaning.
• Take and record temperatures of food and food storage areas, including refrigerators and freezers.
• Perform cash handling procedures as needed.
• Train workers in food preparation, equipment use, customer service, sanitation, and safety procedures.
• Control inventories of food, equipment, and smallwares, and report shortages to designated personnel.
• Supervise operation when assigned by the immediate supervisor.
