About The Position

As a Senior Firmware Engineer on the Manufacturing Test team, you will develop platforms that interact with products at low levels, including through I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, and USB. Working within an interdisciplinary product development team, you will deliver streamlined test execution and automation solutions that help ensure consistently high-quality products. You will build features for embedded Linux, NIX, and several RTOS platforms; debug complex analog and digital data-acquisition challenges; and improve test automation, throughput, user interfaces, and data analytics. The role focuses on developing firmware and software for manufacturing tests, including host/client verification of product form, fit, and function; low-level microcontroller integrations; device-side validation of system features; and troubleshooting across electrical, firmware, and software boundaries. You will also help transfer debugging approaches into automated tests and failure-analysis procedures for production-line staff, and participate in DFT/DFM reviews with electrical engineering and product firmware teams.

Requirements

  • BS or MS in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, Electrical Engineering, or equivalent industry experience.
  • At least 8 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Strong C coding ability for embedded systems.
  • Experience integrating microcontrollers with analog and digital sensors.
  • Experience developing firmware in bare-metal, RTOS, and embedded Linux environments.
  • Solid understanding and application of coding best practices, board bring-up, and debugging.
  • Some familiarity with common bus protocols such as USB, SPI, I2C, CAN, RS232, RS485, and Ethernet.
  • Eligible to obtain and maintain an active U.S. Secret security clearance.

Nice To Haves

  • At least 10 years of relevant industry experience.
  • Bring-up and debugging expertise for new designs, with comfort working with low- and high-speed interfaces.
  • Strong fundamentals in data acquisition and analysis, including FFT, Bode, and control loops.
  • Experience with one or more microcontroller cores, such as ARM, AVR, MSP430, or PIC.
  • Experience with embedded Linux development and deployment processes.
  • Debugging experience with JTAG, SWD, oscilloscopes, and logic analyzers.
  • A bias for action and willingness to identify and solve problems.
  • Natural curiosity about the technologies and tools used.

Responsibilities

  • Develop platforms that interact with products through low-level interfaces such as I2C, SPI, CAN, UART, and USB.
  • Deliver streamlined test execution and automation solutions as part of an interdisciplinary product development team.
  • Build firmware and software for host/client verification of product form, fit, and function, anticipating potential failure modes.
  • Develop low-level firmware/software for microcontrollers interfacing with robots, or control algorithms for off-the-shelf data-acquisition tools.
  • Build device-side validation for system-level features using SSH and gRPC, and create or leverage existing debug tools.
  • Debug and troubleshoot issues across electrical, firmware, and software boundaries.
  • Transfer debugging processes into automated tests and failure-analysis SOPs for production-line staff.
  • Participate in DFT/DFM reviews with electrical engineering and product firmware teams.
  • Continuously improve test automation, throughput, user interfaces, and data analytics.

Benefits

  • Highly competitive equity grants are included in the majority of full-time offers.
  • Top-tier benefits package, available at little to no cost to employees.
