About The Position

Cricut is hiring a Senior Firmware Engineer to develop and debug embedded firmware for bare-metal microcontrollers, RTOS, systems-on-chip, and single-board computers. The role works closely with project and product management to translate product requirements into technical requirements and partners with hardware engineering to bring up new boards and systems. The engineer will develop firmware for electromechanical products, including actuator control and sensor integration, and use data and statistical methods to analyze and resolve design issues. The position also includes debugging low-level hardware interfaces, building internal tools for testing, automation, and manufacturing, and contributing to reviews, documentation, revision control, and the full product lifecycle. This is an in-office role five days per week. Cricut describes its current environment as fast-moving and emphasizes urgency, high standards, accountability, focus, and collaborative communication.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering, or Computer Science.
  • At least 5 years of embedded firmware experience, or strong project/internship experience for new graduates.
  • Strong C programming skills.
  • Experience with bare-metal microcontroller, FPGA, and real-time operating system development.
  • Familiarity with electromechanical systems, including actuators and precision control.
  • Strong troubleshooting and debugging skills for low-level embedded systems.
  • Excellent communication, documentation, and teamwork skills.
  • Comfort working independently and in a collaborative, hands-on environment.
  • Ability and willingness to work in-office five days per week.

Nice To Haves

  • Robotics or control emphasis in a relevant degree.
  • Exposure to C++ and/or Assembly.
  • Experience developing embedded solutions for electromechanical commercial electronics similar to Cricut products, such as die cutters, plotters, or printers.
