Senior Fire Protection Designer

About The Position

Stantec is seeking a Senior Fire Protection Designer to join its Buildings Engineering team. This role supports technically complex building projects by coordinating across disciplines and delivering high-quality fire protection design documents. The designer develops fire alarm, fire suppression, and special hazard system designs in accordance with applicable codes, client requirements, and Stantec standards. The position calls for strong technical knowledge, coordination skills, and effective communication with clients, consultants, and project teams.

Requirements

At least 8 years of related fire protection design experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience designing fire suppression, fire alarm, and special hazard systems.
Experience with Revit, AutoCAD, and fire protection-related computational programs.
Knowledge of ICC and NFPA codes and standards.
Associate degree, Engineering Technology degree, bachelor's degree, or equivalent experience.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
Willingness to travel up to 15%.

Nice To Haves

Experience in Mission Critical and/or Semi-Conductor markets.
CFPS, EIT, and/or NICET certification.

Responsibilities

Design fire alarm, fire suppression, and special hazard systems.
Review and develop fire alarm and fire protection system plans.
Collaborate with engineering and architectural disciplines.
Communicate with clients and write technical reports.
Coordinate and prepare schematic design, design development, and construction documents.
Assist with spatial coordination involving architecture and other engineering systems.
Work collaboratively across disciplines to produce integrated project documents and design solutions.
Interface with local authorities having jurisdiction (AHJs) and building owner insurance representatives.
