About The Position

Northstar is seeking a Fire Sprinkler Designer to design fire protection systems for a range of projects. The role includes designing layouts, preparing hydraulic calculations and pipe lists for prefabrication, and providing fire sprinkler designs using AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and AutoSPRINK. The designer is also responsible for BIM modeling, field surveying, producing fabrication lists, and coordinating between trades. The position requires reading and interpreting construction documents and specifications, communicating and presenting information, applying mathematical concepts, and building positive relationships with customers.

Requirements

• Associate or technical degree in a technical or business discipline, or equivalent experience.
• Valid driver’s license and excellent driving record.
• Excellent communication, self-motivation, and organizational skills.
• Regular and reliable attendance, including the ability to work extended hours and weekends as required.

Nice To Haves

• Fire protection design experience.
• NICET certification.
• AutoCAD and/or Hydratec experience.

Responsibilities

• Design and lay out fire sprinkler systems.
• Read, analyze, and interpret contract documents, including construction drawings from all disciplines and specifications.
• Write, plan, coordinate, and make presentations to individuals and groups.
• Work with mathematical concepts, including hydraulic calculations and project cost analysis.
• Develop positive, ongoing relationships with customers to ensure satisfaction.
• Prepare fire sprinkler designs using AutoCAD, HydraCAD, and AutoSPRINK.
• Perform BIM modeling and field surveying.
• Provide fabrication lists and coordinate between trades.
• Perform other duties as assigned.
