About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst supports and partners with Commercial and Marketing teams in Abbott’s Lingo Division, focusing on actuals reporting and forecasting for Plan, rLBE, and Confirm processes. The role calls for strong analytical capabilities, business acumen, and effective collaboration across finance and commercial teams. This is an onsite position in Alameda, California.

Lingo is a biosensing technology that tracks biomarkers such as glucose, ketones, and lactate to help people make decisions about their health and nutrition. The team operates with a startup culture and mindset, backed by Abbott.

The analyst supports financial close, planning, forecasting, reporting, commercial decision-making, and process improvements while maintaining compliance with Abbott accounting policies, Sarbanes-Oxley requirements, and GAAP.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in finance, accounting, or a related field.
• At least 4 years of finance experience in FP&A, cost or general accounting, and financial reporting.
• Ability to plan, implement, and administer financial information and control systems.
• Knowledge of principles, processes, and standards for integrated financial analysis and reporting.
• Ability to work autonomously, take initiative, and drive work to completion with minimal supervision.
• Exceptional attention to detail and strong organizational skills, including the ability to manage multiple priorities and deliver accurate, high-quality work.
• Excellent skills with computer applications, including MS Excel and PowerPoint.
• Experience with Hyperion Essbase.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to communicate effectively at multiple levels in a matrix-oriented organization.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

• Assist with month-end close, including journal entries, actual variance analysis, and management commentary.
• Support timely sales results, P&L and balance sheet reporting, projections against benchmarks, and trend information.
• Lead financial planning activities with commercial teams, including sales revenue, product units, gross margin, OMC, and SG&A expenses.
• Prepare LBE and Confirm submissions, current-month predictors, and other forecasts.
• Analyze rLBE submissions, identify meaningful trends, and present findings to commercial senior leadership to support decisions and establish the submission storyline.
• Build and maintain financial models for new product launches, including account onboarding, sales volume ramp, and pricing dynamics.
• Support preparation of the LBE presentation deck and coordinate with stakeholders to create concise, executive-ready materials for senior management.
• Develop metrics and reports for monthly management reviews of performance, costs, and spending drivers.
• Provide profitability analyses for product concepts and launches, promotional programs, instrument placements, major customers, distribution channels, and product lines to inform business and pricing strategies.
• Develop flexible tools for commercial program proposals, including ROI and fully burdened margin profitability analyses, and train commercial staff to improve financial understanding.
• Maintain and develop system solutions and process improvements for financial planning and reporting requirements.
• Adhere to Abbott accounting policies and procedures, including CFMs and Sarbanes-Oxley requirements; maintain controls supporting asset integrity and GAAP compliance.
• Conduct ad hoc financial and business analyses to support management decisions.
