About The Position

The Senior Financial Analyst is responsible for developing complex financial models, conducting research and analysis, assisting with financial planning, and analyzing financial statements and reports. This role involves preparing detailed financial analyses, reports, and presentations to support internal decision-making, strategic planning, and operational efficiency. The analyst will also be responsible for preparing regulatory reports, assisting with month-end close activities, and maintaining Enterprise Performance Management (EPM) systems. The position requires strong technical skills in financial modeling and analysis, as well as excellent communication and presentation abilities.

Requirements

  • Completion of a Bachelor’s Degree program with a recognized major in business with a minimum cumulative GPA of 2.5 is required.
  • Seven years of progressive, responsible experience in financial analysis, business administration, general accounting, revenue cycle, or related area, preferred.
  • Ability to create highly complex documents in Microsoft Word, including linking multiple files and embedding objects linked to other documents.
  • Ability to use advanced functions of Microsoft Excel, such as to create and manage databases, including creating standardized reports, or link multiple worksheets and workbooks.
  • Ability to develop sophisticated presentations in Microsoft PowerPoint, including the use of embedded objects, transitions, and other elements.
  • Job duties require the compilation and analysis of information prepared in effective written form, including correspondence, reports, articles or other documentation.
  • Duties require the preparation and execution of presentations to large groups.
  • Employee is regularly required to sit and use repetitive hand movement to type and grasp.
  • Employee is frequently required to stand or walk.
  • Employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 20 pounds.

Nice To Haves

  • A master’s in business administration (MBA) is highly preferred.
  • If an individual has completed a degree at a higher level than required by the role and had a stronger GPA in that program, they may provide proof of GPA from that degree in lieu of the bachelor’s degree.
  • Have a minimum credit score of 650.

Responsibilities

  • Develops complex financial models to assist with internal decision-making.
  • Prepares cost reports and cost-benefit analysis on various sites, departments, or clinical specialties.
  • Prepares profitability and feasibility studies to assess new opportunities for the organization.
  • Assembles and summarizes data, presents findings, and makes recommendations to Management.
  • Reviews financial data and other reports in order to predict current and future financial performance.
  • Designs multi-variable, multi-year financial models incorporating utilization trends, payer mix, reimbursement methodologies, and operational drivers.
  • Builds scenario-based forecasts to support strategic planning, risk mitigation, and operational decision-making.
  • Produces periodic forecasting, long-range planning, and financial modeling. Analyzes actual results against budget, forecast, and prior periods.
  • Builds and maintains revenue, expense, headcount, cash flow, profitability, and scenario models.
  • Conducts sensitivity analyses to evaluate different business outcomes.
  • Provides high-level variance and trend analysis. Investigates significant revenue and cost variances, identifies trends and risks, determines root causes, and recommends corrective actions.
  • Identifies financial and operational risks, quantifies potential impacts, develops scenarios, and recommends mitigation strategies.
  • Performs detailed analysis in response to management requests, including profitability studies, cost-benefit analyses, business cases, benchmarking, and strategic assessments.
  • Provides analysis to help department leaders and senior management understand operational performance, challenge assumptions, and provide financial guidance for business decisions.
  • Prepares monthly and quarterly KPI dashboards, variance analyses, and high-level presentations. Clearly explains the business drivers behind financial performance.
  • Monitors KPIs, margins, operating expenses, working capital, and other financial metrics.
  • Identifies opportunities to improve profitability and operational efficiency.
  • Evaluates investments, new initiatives, pricing decisions, cost-saving opportunities, capital expenditures, and other strategic projects using ROI, NPV, IRR, payback, and profitability analyses.
  • Reviews work performed by finance analysts, provides technical guidance, establishes analytical standards, and mentors less-experienced team members.
  • Responsible for preparing documents and reports for federal, state, and local government agencies.
  • Prepares Uniform Data System (UDS) report for the Bureau of Primary Health Care and the Annual Utilization Report of Primary Care Clinics for the Department of Health Care Access and Information (HCAI).
  • Prepares and analyzes cost reports and budget reports for DHCS, HRSA, and other Grant-related entities.
  • Participates in the audit process as required by federal, state, or local agencies.
  • Interprets federal and state regulatory changes and translates them into financial and operational impacts.
  • Prepares financial impact analyses, documentation, and modeling required for Change of Scope PPS rate submissions.
  • Leads preparation, reconciliation, and analytical review of Medi-Cal, Medicare, and HRSA cost reports, ensuring accuracy and compliance.
  • Assists in the month-end and year-end close activities and reporting.
  • Works with Accounting during close, reviews accruals and financial results, investigates discrepancies, and ensures management reporting accurately reflects business performance.
  • Analyzes account balance variances to assess the accuracy of the general ledger.
  • Develops optimal methods for communicating financial information through the use of graphs, charts, and tables for month-end or year-end presentation.
  • Prepares schedules and analyses for the annual financial audit.
  • Ensures the accuracy of financial data feeding EPM, BI, and reporting systems through reconciliation and validation processes.
  • Responsible for designing, redeploying, and maintaining Enterprise Performance Management (EPM), impacting strategic and technical leadership, decision-making, and strategy.
  • Partners with the Director of Finance to redesign, redeploy, and maintain the EPM platform, including data structures, driver-based models, and workflow automation.
  • Collaborates with IT and Finance leadership to build enterprise dashboards, automate reporting pipelines, and streamline processes using AI automation tools.
  • Improves forecasting, reporting, and data-management processes. Automates recurring reports and strengthens financial controls and data quality.
  • Responsible for adhering to the Attendance and Absenteeism Policy, recognizing that regular attendance is considered an essential function of all FHCN positions. Absenteeism is not being at work or failing to attend a paid workshop, training, or event unless the absence is protected by law.
  • Ability to present to and work at any FHCN location, both at the beginning of a shift or during a shift, based on business need.
