About The Position

The Senior Finance & Commercial Analyst will be part of the Commercial and Finance team supporting a bp-operated platform in the Gulf of America. The role supports the Senior Commercial and Finance Manager in managing joint venture partnerships and obligations, commercial negotiations, investment decision analysis, and business performance management. The analyst works with joint venture partners and internal functional and technical teams to support development plans, investment decisions, project development, and business performance. The role also builds and maintains financial models, conducts economic and valuation analyses, supports commercial agreements and negotiations, and contributes to performance improvement initiatives.

Requirements

Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or equivalent.
At least 7 years of experience in commercial negotiation and investment decision analysis.
Knowledge and experience working in the Oil & Gas business.
Knowledge of common offshore agreements, including Joint Operating Agreements, Participation Agreements, Purchase and Sale agreements, and Production Handling Agreements.
Skill in financial and economic modelling.
Ability to perform economic evaluations supporting investment decisions and effectively communicate the outputs.
Ability to influence effectively and build alignment with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong commercial, financial, and analytical skills.
Ability to adapt and enthusiasm to learn.
Good command of written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

Support alignment with joint venture partners as they address complex business issues and investment decisions.
Work with joint venture partners to progress project developments, approve operations in line with agreed plans, and mature options for future development.
Ensure joint venture partner alignment on development plans, budgets, and required approvals.
Support management of joint venture rights and obligations, finance and commercial risks, authorizations for expenditure, annual operating plans, and joint venture committees.
Work with bp functional and technical teams to support business and investment decisions through sound economic analysis and business cases.
Lead investment evaluation and analysis of new projects with internal stakeholders and joint venture partners.
Support business opportunity framing, Area Development Plans, and project development to establish long-term growth strategy.
Build and maintain financial models to evaluate investment opportunities, forecast investment returns and project cash flows, and assess risk exposure.
Conduct valuation analyses, including discounted cash flow analysis, to assess asset value.
Support development of new or modified joint venture agreements.
Support resolution of commercial disputes and contractual issues with joint venture partners or other joint ventures while managing relationships.
Support the creation and delivery of commercial plans to progress investment opportunities in compliance with applicable agreements.
Provide guidance on commercial negotiations through interpretation of Joint Operating Agreements to increase value while mitigating risk.
Deliver P&L and financial analysis, including identifying and pursuing efficiency opportunities.
Work with Finance Business & Technology to support performance interventions, track action plans, and manage potential risks and opportunities.
Provide input on the effectiveness of business plans, including annual plans and Area Business (Performance) Reviews.
Work on ad hoc projects and requests supporting business-area leadership and performance improvement initiatives.
