About The Position

You will be part of the Commercial and Finance team supporting a bp-operated platform in the Gulf of America. The successful candidate will support the Senior Commercial and Finance Manager in managing joint venture partnerships and obligations, commercial negotiations, investment decision analysis, and business performance management. The role supports alignment with joint venture partners on business issues, investment decisions, project developments, development plans, budgets, approvals, rights and obligations, financial and commercial risks, AFEs, AOPs, and JV committees. It also works with bp functional and technical teams and JV partners on economic analysis, investment evaluations, business cases, opportunity framing, area development plans, and project development. The role builds and maintains financial models, evaluates returns and cash flows, assesses risk, and conducts asset valuation analyses, including discounted cash flow analysis. The position contributes to developing or modifying JV agreements, resolving commercial disputes and contractual issues, creating commercial plans, and interpreting Joint Operating Agreements to increase value while mitigating risk. It also delivers P&L and financial analysis, identifies efficiency opportunities, supports performance interventions and action plans with Finance Business & Technology, contributes to annual plans and Area Business Performance Reviews, and undertakes ad hoc work to support leadership performance-improvement initiatives. The position is hybrid, combining office and remote work. No travel is expected, and relocation assistance is not available.

Requirements

Degree in Business, Finance, Engineering, or equivalent.
At least 7 years of experience in commercial negotiation and investment decision analysis.
Knowledge and experience working in the Oil & Gas business.
Knowledge of common offshore agreements, including Joint Operating Agreements, Participation Agreements, Purchase and Sale agreements, and Production Handling Agreements.
Financial and economic modelling skills, including the ability to perform economic evaluations supporting investment decisions and communicate the outputs effectively.
Ability to influence effectively and build alignment with multidisciplinary teams.
Strong commercial, financial, and analytical skills.
Ability to adapt and enthusiasm to learn.
Good command of written and spoken English.

Responsibilities

Support alignment with JV partners as the business navigates complex issues and investment decisions.
Work with JV partners to progress project developments, approve operations in line with agreed plans, and mature options for future development.
Ensure JV partner alignment on development plans, JV budgets, and required approvals.
Support management of JV rights and obligations, JV finance and commercial risks, AFEs, AOPs, and JV committees.
Work with bp functional and technical teams to support business and investment decisions with sound economic analysis and business cases.
Lead investment evaluation and analysis of new projects with internal stakeholders and JV partners.
Support business opportunity framing, Area Development Plans, and project development to establish long-term growth strategy.
Build and maintain financial models to evaluate investment opportunities, forecast returns and project cash flows, and assess risk exposure.
Conduct valuation analyses, including discounted cash flow analysis, to assess asset value.
Support development of new or modified JV agreements.
Support resolution of commercial disputes and contractual issues with JV partners or other joint ventures while managing relationships.
Support creation and delivery of commercial plans for new investment opportunities in compliance with applicable agreements.
Provide guidance on commercial negotiations through interpretation of Joint Operating Agreements to increase value and mitigate risk.
Deliver P&L and financial analysis, including identifying and working on efficiency opportunities.
Work with Finance Business & Technology to support performance interventions, track action plans, and manage potential risks and opportunities.
Provide input to the business area on business-plan effectiveness, including annual plans and Area Business Performance Reviews.
Work on ad hoc projects and requests supporting business-area leadership and performance-improvement initiatives.
