About The Position

The Aerospace Corporation is hiring a Senior Project Leader - Enterprise Systems Engineering for the Portfolio Analysis Department (PAD), part of the Enterprise Effects Division (EED). This is an onsite opportunity in Los Angeles, California. The Enterprise Effects Division drives integration of Aerospace’s strategic capabilities across the national space enterprise. The division leverages a broad array of engineering disciplines against a wide-ranging and dynamic portfolio of programs, customers, and national challenges. EED spans the capability lifecycle from concept and architecture design to performance assessment to application of space and space-enabled capabilities. As part of the Enterprise Design Subdivision (EDS), the Portfolio Analysis Department offers responsive and comprehensive trades in customer portfolios. Working closely with corporate program offices, PAD delivers portfolio decision insights that expand options for senior leaders and accelerates delivery of end effects. PAD integrates enterprise analysis and design capabilities from across the corporation. We are looking for an experienced Enterprise Systems Engineer to support the Space Security and Defense Program (SSDP) and its mission partners in developing capabilities to protect U.S. national security space systems. This position will drive and facilitate integration across SSDP force designs and space mission areas with an end-to-end kill chain closure focus. Its scope will include relations between key government organizations that SSDP needs to work with to realize the capabilities called for in the force designs to realize this end-to-end closure.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, mathematics, science, or other related technical discipline.
  • Minimum of 10 years of increasingly responsible experience in systems engineering or other space-related engineering disciplines.
  • Experience with multi-domain counterspace threats, resiliency, and related intelligence reporting and analysis.
  • Develop and maintain a comprehensive awareness and understanding of current and developing threats to U.S. national security and commercial space architectures.
  • Demonstrated ability to establish and maintain effective and collaborative working relationships with co-workers, customers, program offices, and contractors.
  • Ability to identify problem spaces, assess trade options, and independently formulate courses of action.
  • Experience initiating and leading cross-functional, cross-organizational teams to plan and execute projects or studies
  • Excellent interpersonal skills and well adept at oral and written communication
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple concurrent projects
  • Available and willing to travel domestically, approx. 5-15%
  • Active TS//SCI security clearance with CI polygraph.
  • Eligibility for SAP clearances.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree in engineering, mathematics, science, or a related technical discipline.
  • Demonstrated leadership of broad multidisciplinary teams conducting technical evaluations of complex systems.
  • Experience with and/or working knowledge of ETG’s organizational construct and technical capabilities.
  • Experience with SSC and other space superiority programs and program offices.
  • Understanding of SSDP, its mission, and the force design process.
  • Understanding of the national security space environment including people, organizations, infrastructure, and capabilities.
  • Experience with space-related intelligence analysis including a demonstrated ability to assess and analyze a wide variety of data.
  • Five or more years of direct experience within the United States Space Force or Intelligence Community especially in the areas of space operations, space threats, and/or counterspace intelligence analysis and reporting.
  • Experience briefing senior Government leaders (General Officer and/or SES/SIS).

Responsibilities

  • Serve as an integrator of SSDP force designs into acquisition programs, working between SSDP divisions and key programs and program offices at SSC.
  • Lead a team of Aerospace personnel charged with collectively working integration, information sharing and collaboration across SSDP, SWAC, SSC program offices and other key partner organizations to effect better integration and realization of capability acquisition based on force designs.
  • Work unstructured problems and connect different groups to integrate across mission areas and end to end kill chains as SSC programs and other partners develop capability guided by the Space Force’s force designs and objective force.
  • Build and maintain relationships with other national security space organizations, facilitate the exchange of information and analyses, and perform research tasks to address current and future counterspace threats.
  • Support senior government leaders in assessing the strategic implications for a broad range of force designs, candidate solution architectures and emerging technologies, characterizing potential impacts to current and future space architectures.
  • Collaborate with Aerospace program offices, Project West Wing, and other Engineering and Technology Group (ETG) organizations to proactively address customer requirements with comprehensive technical expertise and the application of analytical tools.
  • Initiate studies designed to solve complex problems and provide new and innovative technical solutions.
  • Take initiative to inform management of perceived technical problems and recommend courses of action and act as a spokesperson for the working group to management/customers.
  • Provide mentoring and oversight to early career staff.
