Senior Engineering Manager, Multilingual AI - Siri

About The Position

As Senior Engineering Manager for Global Siri, you will lead a multi-team engineering and machine learning organization responsible for internationalization architecture, cross-functional integration, and engineering readiness for next-generation Siri and Apple Intelligence features. You will own end-to-end outcomes, from technical strategy and scalable ML architecture through model development, data, evaluation, and shipping production systems that run on-device and in Apple’s Private Cloud Compute. The organization’s scope includes multilingual and locale-specific language understanding and LLM technologies; speech and multimodal input, including ASR, TTS, speaker understanding, and fusion of voice, vision, and text; agentic capabilities that take action across apps and services; multilingual and agentic evaluation and data science; and scalable systems for data collection, annotation, synthetic data generation, language-specific representations, and launch tooling. You will set the technical direction and multi-year engineering plan for bringing Siri and Apple Intelligence capabilities to international markets, grow managers and engineers, and partner with Siri teams, product, design, research, data science, and regional engineering organizations. You will communicate strategy, decisions, progress, and risks to senior leadership, and influence roadmaps across Siri and Apple Intelligence.

Requirements

10+ years of experience building software and/or machine learning systems.
5+ years managing engineering teams.
Experience managing managers or leading a multi-team organization, with a track record of developing first-line managers and senior engineers.
Hands-on technical background in software and/or ML engineering, with depth in at least one of LLM-based products, language technologies, speech systems, or multimodal AI products.
Track record of shipping ML-powered products at scale, with detailed understanding of development, evaluation, integration, and release readiness.
Strong leadership, planning, and prioritization skills, with ability to deliver complex, cross-functional programs.
Excellent written and verbal communication, including presenting to executive leadership and working with people across varied backgrounds and technical depth.
B.S. in Computer Science, Electrical Engineering, Machine Learning, Linguistics, or a related field, or equivalent experience.

Nice To Haves

M.S. or Ph.D. in Machine Learning, Speech and Language Technologies, Computational Linguistics, or a closely related field.
Experience building multilingual or international AI systems across multiple markets, languages, or low-resource settings.
Experience developing, training, or fine-tuning LLMs, speech models, or multimodal models, including on-device or efficiency-constrained deployment.
Experience with conversational AI, agentic systems, and evaluation of agentic or generative AI products.
Strong background in experimental design and data science, including building evaluation frameworks that drive product decisions.
Expertise using AI-assisted software development workflows to accelerate engineering while maintaining code quality.
Strategic vision and ability to set direction in ambiguous, fast-moving technical areas.
Working proficiency in more than one language, or experience collaborating closely with linguists and in-market teams.

Responsibilities

Lead and grow a multi-team organization of ML and software engineers, including first-line managers and senior technical leaders.
Set the technical strategy and multi-year engineering plan for bringing Siri and Apple Intelligence capabilities to international markets, and translate it into priorities, milestones, and owners.
Own key decisions on ML architecture and language technologies across Siri products, shaping model and platform requirements with the teams responsible for those systems.
Build scalable, repeatable systems and processes that reduce the cost and time of adding and improving languages.
Establish rigorous, data-driven evaluation for each locale, including agentic and end-to-end evaluation, and use it to guide investment and launch decisions.
Lead data strategy, including annotation programs, data quality, and language-specific representations, conventions, and guidelines.
Partner across Siri and Apple Intelligence so international considerations are designed in from the start.
Champion modern engineering practices and reusable GenAI-assisted workflows while maintaining quality and reliability.
Attract, hire, develop, and retain talent, fostering technical excellence, ownership, inclusion, and care.
Communicate strategy, engineering decisions, delivery progress, and cross-functional risks to senior leadership and partner organizations.
Work across language understanding and LLMs, speech and multimodal input, agentic capabilities, evaluation and data science, and data and platform systems.
