About the position
The Senior Engineering Manager, Babylist Shop will lead the most critical initiatives for Babylist in becoming the specialty retailer in the baby commerce industry. They will be responsible for leading and hiring a new team of experienced software engineers to deliver an aggressive roadmap. The ideal candidate is an influential, experienced, and highly-technical leader who can build and maintain a culture of engagement and excellence. They will work closely with senior leaders across the business to drive the growth and success of Babylist's ecommerce store and shopping experience.
Responsibilities
- Lead and hire a new team of experienced software engineers
- Deliver an aggressive roadmap for Babylist Shop
- Build and maintain a culture of engagement and excellence
- Build and maintain productive relationships with senior leaders across the business
- Have a track record of end-to-end software development in a Ruby on Rails environment
- Have experience in building ecommerce shopping solutions, including Product Information Management Systems, Offers and Pricing, Product Recommendations, Search and Discovery, Catalog, and Check Out Experience
- Have experience in experimentation and A/B testing for building a powerful ecommerce store and experience
- Lead high-functioning teams and maintain engineering culture
- Successfully lead teams through growth and change
- Coach engineers, hire and develop talent, and provide feedback
- Define, build, and maintain a high-performance and collaborative culture aligned with Babylist's core values
- Build a more powerful shopping experience leveraging Babylist's foundation and engaged customer base
- Own tactical planning and execution for the team, partnering with other Engineering and Product leaders
- Be a thought leader and expert in the ecommerce store/shopping domain
- Empower and inspire the team to achieve their highest potential
- On-board and mentor the team
- Serve as a thought leader for the technology stack used by Babylist
Requirements
- Must have experience in end-to-end software development of live systems, preferably in a Ruby on Rails environment
- Experience in building ecommerce shopping solutions, particularly in areas such as Product Information Management Systems, Offers and Pricing, Product Recommendations, Search and Discovery, Catalog, and Check Out Experience
- Experience in experimentation and A/B testing for building a powerful ecommerce store and customer experience
- Proven leadership experience in building and maintaining high-functioning engineering teams and culture
- Ability to adapt and set standards that scale with the business
- Strong coaching skills with experience in hiring, developing talent, and providing feedback
- Ability to define, build, and maintain a high-performance and collaborative culture aligned with company values
- Expertise in the ecommerce store/shopping domain and ability to prioritize high-value areas
- Strong tactical planning and execution skills, collaborating with other Engineering and Product leaders
- Ability to empower and inspire team members, playing a key role in onboarding and mentoring
- Thought leadership in the technology field
