The role leads, manages, and coordinates multidisciplinary design delivery teams—including Port Authority employees, consultants, or both—across planning, design development, and construction. The Senior Engineer reports to the Senior Design Manager for the assigned project portfolio and works closely with the Design Program Manager and Project Principal. The role also manages assigned aspects of division support services for alternate delivery and large redevelopment projects. For projects using any delivery method, the Senior Engineer helps develop and finalize scope, schedule, and design-services budgets; leads technical delivery to meet approved scope, schedule, and budget; manages team productivity; oversees consultant design services and staff audits; and leads progress meetings and action-item coordination. For Design-Bid-Build projects, the Senior Engineer coordinates disciplines to prevent design and contract-document conflicts, interferences, and errors or omissions; supports oversight of large multidisciplinary projects; manages completion and issuance of bid documents, quality assurance and quality control, signatures, approvals, and permits; and provides responsive design support during construction, including meetings, site visits, RFI responses, submittal reviews, and PACCs when needed. For alternate delivery projects, the Senior Engineer supports coordination of technical aspects of Design-Build solicitation documents and preparation of technical documents for a Basis of Design. The role monitors and oversees technical design teams, facilitates reviews and audits of design submissions, shop drawings, and submittals, coordinates RFI responses and workflows, and ensures inspection staff monitor potential safety hazards and advise the Resident Engineer of safety matters or violations. The position permits remote work a maximum of one day per week, subject to operational and business needs. The stated expected compensation range is $110,474 to $176,748, with a midpoint of $143,613.
