About The Position

FloQast is hiring a Senior Design Engineer to help build and scale its design organization and AI-powered accounting platform. The role combines enterprise UX expertise with production front-end engineering, building human-centered tools that make complex financial data intuitive and support AI-assisted accounting workflows. The position owns the FloUI component library in partnership with Design Systems Leads and Platform Engineering, including its architecture, quality, documentation, visual testing, versioning, accessibility, and token pipeline. The engineer will standardize high-impact UI patterns across business units, keep Figma variables and code aligned, and establish contribution and review practices that support engineering teams across the US West Coast and India. The role also develops AI-native front-end patterns, prototypes functional, data-connected experiences in React and TypeScript, and advances tooling that enables designers and product managers to contribute usable front-end code. It partners with Product Designers on enterprise UX strategy, leads discovery and audits of legacy UI code, and champions accessibility, responsive design, and performance across complex financial interfaces. This role requires working in the office three days per week. The requirement may change based on team and business needs and is subject to ongoing review. Visa sponsorship is not available at this time.

Requirements

  • At least 7 years of professional experience as a Design Engineer, UX Engineer, Design Technologist, or Front-End Engineer building and shipping complex, data-heavy B2B SaaS applications.
  • Daily hands-on experience with AI tools and coding assistants such as Claude, Cursor, and Vercel to accelerate component development, prototype functional interfaces, and write machine-readable documentation.
  • Strong UX/UI foundation, including information architecture, data-dense table UX, and workflow design for enterprise software; able to contribute to interaction models and user experience, not only implement specifications.
  • Advanced proficiency in React, TypeScript, HTML/CSS, Storybook, and component-library architecture.
  • Demonstrated experience building, maintaining, and scaling enterprise design systems in code, including design tokens, component APIs, accessibility, and versioning.
  • Familiarity with AI-interface challenges such as model latency, streaming responses, non-deterministic states, confidence indicators, and human-in-the-loop intervention patterns.
  • Strong cross-functional leadership and communication skills, including experience collaborating with distributed global engineering teams to build alignment and adoption.
  • Ability to work in fast-paced, ambiguous environments, untangle legacy UI codebases, and approach technical constraints creatively.

Responsibilities

  • Build and ship the FloUI design system in code, owning its component library, quality, architecture, documentation, visual testing, versioning, and accessibility in Storybook.
  • Standardize high-impact UI patterns developed across business units into shared production-grade components for R&D.
  • Own the design-token pipeline in code and keep Figma variables and code synchronized.
  • Partner with Platform Engineering and feature engineering pods across US West Coast and India business units; establish asynchronous contribution models, PR review guardrails, and Storybook documentation.
  • Establish design tokens, semantic UI trees, dynamic streaming interfaces, and usage rules so components can be inspected and operated by AI agents and generative workflows.
  • Build interactive, data-connected React and TypeScript prototypes so Product and Design can test complex AI workflows with users before committing full business-unit sprint capacity.
  • Establish front-end tooling, guardrails, and workflows that enable product designers and product managers to contribute usable front-end code.
  • Collaborate with Product Designers on enterprise SaaS interaction design, dense-data layouts, and human-in-the-loop AI controls.
  • Lead discovery and code audits with business-unit leads and Platform Engineering, mapping legacy UI deprecations to validate sprint planning.
  • Champion front-end craft, WCAG 2.2 AA accessibility, responsive layouts, and performance optimization across data-dense tables and financial dashboards.
