Our client is a leading Energy Services Company dedicated to reducing energy and water consumption through innovative building upgrades and ongoing Energy Management Services. With Guaranteed Energy Savings projects and a fully integrated end-to-end service backed by performance-based contracts, they manage upgrades from start to finish and offer a range of funding options. Their unique Services Agreement allows clients to enjoy significant cost savings and millions of dollars in building upgrades without any upfront capital or debt investment. They are seeking a Senior Engineer - Energy Efficiency & Performance Innovation to advance energy efficiency initiatives, develop innovative strategies for incentives and grants programs, and support decarbonization and energy transition efforts. This role is ideal for a passionate professional skilled in energy-saving calculations, custom incentive development, and engineering transformative solutions. This role focuses on identifying, securing, and optimizing utility incentives and grants to enhance the ROI of energy service projects, including energy efficiency, water efficiency, and waste/carbon management initiatives. The successful candidate will contribute to proposal development, incentive analysis, and the adoption of innovative technologies to maximize value for customers and project outcomes. Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering (Mechanical, Electrical, Industrial, Energy Engineering or related field) required; advanced degree preferred.
  • Professional certifications such as PE, CEM, CEA or CMVP are highly desirable.
  • Some overnight travel could be required to develop strategies and implement incentive programs
  • 5+ years of experience in energy efficiency preferably ESCO industry, with a strong focus on program design, energy performance engineering incentive calculation and implementation
  • Proven track record in developing and managing incentive and grant programs.
  • Development & Implementation experience of custom incentives for energy and water efficiency projects
  • Project management skills and the ability to manage multiple incentive projects simultaneously.
  • Strong knowledge of energy efficiency technologies, standards, and codes.
  • Analytical skills with proficiency in tools like Excel, energy modeling, and measurement software.
  • Exceptional communication and interpersonal abilities.
  • Passion for sustainability, decarbonization, and driving impactful change.

Responsibilities

  • Perform energy and water efficiency savings calculations for incentive applications.
  • Analyze energy efficiency projects to maximize and secure custom incentives through data collection, baseline strategies, and implementation.
  • Create and refine programs to stimulate efficiency investments, ensuring cost-effectiveness and environmental impact.
  • Oversee incentive programs and grant RFPs, including application review, project implementation, and reporting.
  • Provide insights on energy efficiency technologies and best practices, including HVAC, lighting, and renewable energy systems.
  • Collaborate with utilities, government agencies, and industry stakeholders to foster partnerships and promote energy initiatives.
  • Develop strategies for metering and monitoring in compliance with IPMVP protocols to secure incentives and grants.
  • Maintain Preferred Trade Ally/Approved Contractor status and explore additional strategic program participation.
  • Conduct site visits for ASHRAE Level I, II, and III energy assessments to support engineering teams and establish M&V plans for incentives.
  • Stay informed on emerging energy efficiency technologies and trends.
  • Identify opportunities for innovative solutions.
  • Improve incentive processes through new tools, technologies, methodologies, and strategies.
