Senior Embedded Software Engineer

Everpure•Santa Clara, CA
•Onsite

About The Position

Join Everpure’s Datastore team to design, develop, and validate embedded firmware for DirectFlash™ modules. Work across firmware and hardware boundaries to build reliable, high-performance storage solutions, while developing virtual platforms and tools that accelerate development, debugging, and validation. Collaborate with cross-functional engineering teams to solve complex system-level problems and help deliver innovative products to market. The role focuses on developing high-fidelity virtual platforms that model complex hardware behaviors and accelerate SSD firmware development. You will create and maintain firmware simulation environments, hardware models, instrumentation, and CI/CD integrations, and partner with ASIC vendors to validate firmware against RTL and digital logic before physical silicon is available.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of experience building and scaling complex embedded, firmware, or hardware-software systems.
  • Expert proficiency in C/C++, including object-oriented design and C++11 or later.
  • Strong Python skills for firmware and modeling development.
  • Deep understanding of firmware-hardware interaction, including translating schematics and data sheets into abstract software models.
  • Solid understanding of Linux, including kernels and bootloaders, and ability to root-cause issues across hardware and firmware boundaries.
  • Strong knowledge of high-performance storage protocols such as PCIe and NVMe.
  • Experience with embedded software development, RTOS, SoCs, and hardware bring-up.
  • Good verbal communication and collaboration skills.
  • Willingness and ability to work onsite in an open-office, team environment.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and maintain comprehensive firmware simulation environments, such as QEMU, to enable shift-left testing, reduce reliance on physical hardware, and accelerate time to market.
  • Create high-fidelity hardware models that abstract controller logic, communication interfaces such as PCIe and NVMe, and NAND media behaviors in DirectFlash™ SSD modules.
  • Design and implement instrumentation tools to profile performance and analyze failures in simulated environments.
  • Automate CI/CD pipelines to integrate simulation and virtual platforms into firmware release and validation processes.
  • Partner with ASIC vendors to validate firmware behavior against RTL and digital logic designs before physical silicon is available.
  • Develop, debug, and validate embedded firmware and virtual platforms in collaboration with cross-functional engineering teams.

Benefits

  • Flexible time off
  • Wellness resources
  • Company-sponsored team events
