About The Position

SAIC is seeking a Senior Embedded Software Engineer to support the Precision Fires team and the Aviation and Missile Center at Redstone Arsenal in Huntsville, Alabama. This is an onsite role focused on embedded software for electronic, electromechanical, and electro-optic equipment. The engineer designs, develops, documents, tests, and debugs application software and systems involving low-level control processing, including interrupts, timers, digital I/O, and serial communication protocols. The work also includes developing embedded software for real-time and near-real-time operating systems and processors, including networking and radio systems. The role collaborates with equipment designers and hardware engineers on multidisciplinary research and the planning, design, development, and use of electronic data processing systems. The position requires analyzing user needs and system capabilities, resolving software and system problems, preparing operating instructions, and ensuring software standards are met. It may include designing and developing compilers, assemblers, utility programs, and operating systems. The engineer works under general direction, independently determines approaches to solutions, contributes to programs and projects, and represents the organization in addressing difficult technical issues with internal organizations and outside customers. Work is reviewed for adequacy against objectives, and the position may provide direction to employees according to established policies and management guidance. Applicants must have an active Secret security clearance and be U.S. citizens. The education requirement is a bachelor’s degree and five or more years of experience; an additional six years of experience may be considered in lieu of a degree, per the contract vehicle.
