About The Position

RQ Construction is seeking an experienced Senior Electrical Preconstruction Manager to lead and support electrical planning activities for multiple active projects and upcoming pursuits. This role is crucial for managing the electrical preconstruction phase from early design through to handoff to field teams, ensuring all systems are fully developed, coordinated, and ready for construction. The position involves organizing and advancing electrical scopes during project initiation, ensuring designs are thorough, aligned with project goals, and practical for construction. Collaboration with Estimating, Design, Operations, and executive leadership is key for supporting pursuits through scope definition, design coordination, cost development, scheduling, procurement strategies, and risk assessment. The role also includes participating in value engineering, contributing to large-scale and complex project pursuits, and mentoring preconstruction team members. Additionally, the role will drive standardization, implement best practices, and support continuous improvement within the electrical preconstruction function. RQ Construction, established in 1996, is a national Design-Build organization delivering full-service construction solutions across the country, with a strong focus on fast-paced commercial builds and Department of Defense (DoD) projects.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Construction Management, or a related discipline required (equivalent experience may be considered).
  • Minimum of 10 years of experience in the electrical field.
  • At least 2 years in an Electrical Project Manager or Electrical Preconstruction role.
  • Experience with McCormick, Bluebeam Revu, P6, Autodesk Cloud, or similar construction software required.
  • Familiarity with Microsoft 365 tools (Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams) preferred.
  • Must provide evidence of identity and U.S. work authorization at the time of hire.
  • Must successfully pass a drug screening and commercial criminal background check.
  • Must successfully pass a stricter Department of Defense background check for access to job sites at military bases (if applicable).

Nice To Haves

  • Additional training in project management, construction management, electrical trade programs, BIM, or CADD is a plus.
  • Strong background in developing conceptual estimates and managing electrical and low-voltage/data system design is highly preferred.
  • Experience with design-build projects in government, military (DoD), or large commercial environments is a plus.
