About The Position

This position supports project needs at the Duane Arnold Energy Center. It will begin as a remote position and may transition to a hybrid arrangement with three days per week in the office and two days working remotely. The designer works in a multi-disciplined team with other designers and engineers to prepare design drawings from design input, while applying and expanding drafting skills. The role includes hands-on training in 3D design software environments such as AutoCAD 3D and/or MicroStation. Drawings are created to scale to show how proposed installations relate to existing facilities and to specify exact dimensions. The designer may assist experienced designers with client-facility walkdowns to gather information and may explain drawings to vendors and construction contractors so appropriate design adjustments can be made. Sargent & Lundy's Nuclear Power Group works on nuclear engineering, design, and licensing, including small modular reactors, advanced reactor technology, reactor restart projects, existing plant life extensions and digital modernization, coal-to-nuclear conversion initiatives, and international nuclear new-build projects.
