About The Position

BAE Systems has an opening for a Senior Electrical Engineer in Hudson, NH, within their Space Systems product line, specifically in the Secure Communications product area. This role involves performing all aspects of electrical design, from requirements to solution design, using Cadence as the primary board design suite. The products range from computer test racks and circuit card assemblies to chassis and optical assemblies, with varying fidelity from benchtop to flight equipment. The engineer will support large programs, conduct research for future work, and collaborate with a larger team across Engineering and Operations. The role is intended for a Junior to Mid-Level engineer with opportunities for career growth and knowledge acquisition. Tasks include component selection, PCB stackup, symbol/footprint creation, schematic capture, layout/placement, and routing for digital, analog, and optical signals, often involving FPGAs and optical components. Experience with backplanes and cabling is also relevant.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's Degree in Electrical Engineering (or similar field)
  • A minimum of four years' applicable experience
  • Electrical design experience
  • Experience working on larger Engineering teams
  • Ability to mentor and willingness to be mentored
  • Strong debug and problem-solving skills
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a Secret Security Clearance

Nice To Haves

  • Prior Space experience is desired.
  • Experience with VITA/SpaceVPX standards is recommended.
  • Experience designing backplanes and with cabling is helpful.

Responsibilities

  • Perform all aspects of electrical design, from taking a requirements document and Systems block/architecture diagram and designing a solution.
  • Carry board designs through component selection, PCB stackup, creating symbols and footprints, schematic capture, layout/placement, and routing.
  • Design solutions for computer test racks, circuit card assemblies, chassis, environmental fixtures, and optical assemblies.
  • Support large programs within the Secure Communications product area.
  • Conduct research and design to support future work for current and new customers.
  • Work with a larger team across Engineering and Operations, including Mechanical Engineers, Systems Engineers, Software Engineers, Test Engineers, Program Engineering Managers, Manufacturing Engineers, and New Product Introduction Engineers.
  • Debug and problem-solve electrical design issues.
