About The Position

Farcast is seeking a Senior Electrical Engineer to lead the design and development of high-density electronics for next-generation phased array antennas used in satellite communications. This hands-on position spans circuit design, schematic capture, PCB layout, hardware bring-up, validation, and production. Depending on the candidate’s background, the work may focus on RF, mixed-signal, digital, or power electronics, across antenna circuitry and control and interface boards. Candidates will be matched with engineering teams based on their expertise. The engineer will own complex hardware designs, drive technical decisions, and collaborate with RF, systems, mechanical, software, and manufacturing teams to deliver reliable, high-performance products from concept through production. Farcast’s goal is to improve global prosperity by enabling access to information, including through more accessible satellite internet user terminals.

Requirements

  • At least 5 years of hands-on electrical hardware design experience, including schematic capture, PCB layout, bring-up, and testing.
  • Strong experience with schematic capture and high-density PCB layout using Altium, OrCAD, Allegro, or similar tools.
  • Demonstrated expertise in at least one of RF, mixed-signal, digital, or power electronics.
  • Strong understanding of signal integrity, power integrity, transmission lines, impedance matching, and PCB design principles relevant to the candidate’s area of expertise.
  • Extensive hands-on experience testing and debugging circuits with laboratory equipment such as oscilloscopes, spectrum analyzers, network analyzers, and power supplies.
  • Experience designing and releasing complex PCBAs into production, including DFM/DFT, fabrication, assembly, and manufacturing coordination.
  • Ability to independently own complex hardware designs, resolve technical challenges, and collaborate across engineering disciplines.
  • Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering, Computer Engineering, or a closely related field.
  • Applicants and employees must hold U.S. citizenship, lawful permanent residency, or protected status as defined by 8 U.S.C. 1324b(a)(3), to comply with U.S. Government space technology export regulations.

Nice To Haves

  • Master’s degree.
  • Extensive experience designing high-density PCBs, including HDI technology, complex multilayer stackups, and fine-pitch BGA components.
  • Advanced knowledge of RF design principles, transmission lines, impedance matching, and high-frequency PCB layout.
  • Experience designing high-speed digital interfaces, managing signal and power integrity, or developing complex power distribution systems.
  • Experience designing and testing RF systems, active antenna modules, or phased arrays.
  • Proven experience transitioning complex electronics into high-volume production, including DFM/DFT, manufacturing optimization, and cost reduction.
  • Experience with GNSS/INS systems, including antennas and associated electronics.
  • Experience developing high-reliability electronics for aerospace, aviation, automotive, or similarly demanding applications.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the design of complex RF, mixed-signal, digital, and power electronics, including schematic capture and high-density PCB layout, according to areas of expertise.
  • Drive system architecture and component selection, balancing electrical performance, signal and power integrity, thermal constraints, manufacturability, and cost.
  • Own the full PCB/PCBA development cycle, from initial design and prototyping through fabrication, assembly, bring-up, validation, and production release.
  • Develop and execute hardware test and verification plans, troubleshoot complex issues, and ensure design reliability and performance.
  • Collaborate with RF, systems, mechanical, software, and manufacturing engineers to resolve integration challenges and optimize system-level performance.
  • Coordinate technically with PCB fabrication and assembly partners, ensuring DFM/DFT compliance and manufacturing readiness, and resolving production issues.

Benefits

  • Meaningful company stock ownership.
  • Unlimited PTO plus 20+ days of company shutdown.
  • Parental leave designed by parents for parents.
  • 401(k) with 5% company matching.
  • $13,600 in annual perks for wellness, commute, and meals.
  • Individualized health, dental, and vision insurance plans for employees and their families.
