We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer (Underground) for the Underground Operations who will be responsible for supporting the underground operations, Drainage Gallery beneath the Bingham Canyon surface mine, surface electrical and underground technology and communications. The Senior Electrical Engineer (underground) provides safe, “Best for Project” solutions for underground operations, while ensuring safety and operational compliance for all electrical engineering deliverables. This is a great opportunity for an experienced and engaged professional to work collaboratively with all operational and functional departments. Reporting to the Underground AM Manager and working with the Underground Operations, you will be responsible for Understanding, following, or using Kennecott standards including specifications, design basis and criteria templates, design calculations and guides, workflow procedures, engineering standards, and project controls forms, etc Contributions to the maintenance and development of departmental standards as assigned, ensuring conformance with current codes, standards and regulations Selecting electrical equipment and designing electrical circuits and network systems, completing all necessary calculations to ensure compliance with codes, standards, regulations, special industry guidelines, and company standards Participating in design reviews, addressing electrical and other concerns and collaborating with Project Services to ensure that facilities will be built in the safest, most efficient, and cost-effective manner possible At various project phases, participate in risk assessments, identifying and mitigating risks that are deemed to be unacceptable At various project phases, complete timely reviews of drawings, collaborating with other disciplines, project managers, project services, operations groups, and designers to support the operations operability and construction requirements During construction, assess and provide technical recommendations in response to field inquiries Monitoring and reporting on contractor performance within the Underground Mine. Interfacing with the contractor on engineering processes; Staying abreast of open pit planning and operations and interfacing with surface operations regarding electrical supply to the underground areas; Being available to provide knowledge and service as required to resolve issues or address concerns related to electrical reticulation, radio, and communications networks; Expanding position-relevant knowledge and skills through continuing self-directed or employer-sponsored professional development. Leading other electrical team members through their roles and responsibilities.
