Senior DME Compliance & Accreditation Specialist

Verse Medical•New York, NY
•$95,000 - $110,000•Hybrid

About The Position

Verse Medical is hiring a Senior DME Compliance & Accreditation Specialist to own its Medicare audit and accreditation readiness program. This is a hands-on, in-office role for someone who has personally managed a company’s side of a Medicare audit or DMEPOS accreditation survey, including organizing documentation, preparing the facility, and serving as the auditor’s or surveyor’s point of contact. The role is not focused on medical chart auditing or clinical coding; it requires supplier/provider-side experience managing the audit or survey process end to end. The specialist will own ongoing compliance tracking and keep documentation audit-ready across Medicare DMEPOS Supplier Standards. They will lead on-site Medicare, state, and accreditation visits, run mock audits and pre-visit walkthroughs, coordinate with accreditation organizations, and track corrective actions through documented resolution. The schedule is Monday–Friday during standard business hours, with hybrid work options. The role is based in New York City, requires being in the office at least four days per week, and requires in-office attendance during all site visits.

Requirements

  • Direct Medicare audit experience on the supplier/provider side, having personally managed or served as the primary point of contact for a company responding to a Medicare audit such as DME MAC, CERT, UPIC, or RAC.
  • Experience owning audit documentation, facility readiness, and communication with the audit contractor; clinical or coding chart review alone does not meet this requirement.
  • Direct experience with a CMS-approved DMEPOS accreditation organization, either as a surveyor/auditor or as the person who personally owned a company's accreditation readiness and survey.
  • DME/DMEPOS industry experience.
  • At least 3 years of compliance experience in a healthcare setting.
  • Ability to operate independently, with strong organizational and documentation skills.
  • Professional, composed presence when hosting external auditors or regulators, including under pressure or during unannounced visits.
  • Located in New York City and able to work in the office at least 4 days per week and during all site visits.

Responsibilities

  • Own day-to-day compliance tracking for licenses, certifications, documentation, deadlines, and corrective action items.
  • Serve as the on-site lead for Medicare, state, and accreditation site visits, hosting auditors and managing walkthroughs from start to finish.
  • Maintain audit-ready documentation across all Medicare DMEPOS Supplier Standards at all times.
  • Run internal mock audits and pre-visit walkthroughs to close gaps before official reviews.
  • Partner with the accreditation organization on survey preparation, renewals, and scope changes.
  • Track corrective action items from audits or surveys through documented resolution.

Benefits

  • Hybrid work options
