About The Position

Psomagen is hiring a senior, network-driven business development leader to originate and shape large research projects and strategic partnerships with pharmaceutical and biotech companies, research foundations, consortia, and government-funded programs. This is a hands-on individual-contributor role with no team management and no territory quota. The role opens doors, builds relationships, structures opportunities, and leads them through early and mid-stage negotiations. The commercial team follows up and closes the deal, and the project management team delivers it. The role focuses on large-scale research opportunities, typically multi-year, multi-site, or high-volume sequencing and multiomics programs with total contract values of $1 million or more. The leader builds executive-level relationships, translates scientific goals into feasible Psomagen solutions in collaboration with scientific and operations leads, supports grant-linked and consortium bids, represents Psomagen at conferences and customer meetings, shares market intelligence with leadership, and maintains opportunity records in HubSpot. The position involves remote work and approximately 30–40% travel to customers and conferences.

Requirements

  • 12 or more years in genomics, NGS, or multiomics commercial roles, such as business development, strategic accounts, or sales leadership, at a sequencing service provider, platform or consumables vendor, CRO, or core-facility-type organization.
  • Demonstrated track record originating and closing programs of $1 million or more with pharmaceutical or biotech companies and/or foundations, consortia, or government-funded programs.
  • Established U.S. network of senior R&D, translational, genomics, or procurement decision-makers.
  • Working knowledge of short-read, long-read, single-cell, spatial, and proteomics technology landscapes, and ability to discuss study design credibly with scientists.
  • Understanding of regulatory tiers (RUO vs. CLIA/CAP vs. GCLP/GLP) and how to position a service accurately within them.
  • Experience negotiating complex agreements, including MSAs, SOWs, data-handling terms, and confidentiality terms.
  • Self-directed and comfortable working remotely, with approximately 30–40% travel to customers and conferences.
  • Legally authorized to work in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree (PhD/MS) in life sciences; a BS with deep industry experience will also be considered.
  • Experience with pharmaceutical biomarker or translational programs, large-cohort or population-scale sequencing, or foundation-funded research.
  • Exposure to selling services in regulated environments (GCLP/CLIA).
  • Familiarity with HubSpot or a similar CRM.

  • Lead early- and mid-stage negotiations through a defined handoff point, including agreed scope, commercial terms in principle, and NDA/MSA status; then transition opportunities to the sales team to follow up and close.
  • Support grant-linked and consortium bids with partner introductions, proposal input, and customer-facing presentations.
  • Represent Psomagen at key conferences and customer meetings, and share market and competitive intelligence with leadership.
  • Keep opportunity records current in HubSpot so the pipeline remains visible.
