About The Position

The Senior Director, Product Owner is responsible for aligning Global Surety’s business objectives with its technology investment portfolio. The role requires deep understanding of surety business objectives and how technology can best support them, while partnering with operations and technology teams to plan, estimate, deliver, and measure results. The position uses Agile methodologies and standards to improve performance, incorporate stakeholder feedback, and drive delivery of the technology portfolio. The ideal candidate has experience working globally, is confident with AI, and seeks creative solutions to business problems. This leader translates portfolio-level business objectives into technology product strategies, represents the business and product vision to stakeholders and senior management, allocates investment and resources across products, and owns the overall product backlog and release plan. The role leads Agile product teams, manages Product Owners and other Agile development roles, and champions Agile transformation and education across the company. Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field such as business or computer science, or equivalent business expertise and knowledge of Agile development methodologies and IT project management as described in the posting.
Minimum of 10 years of experience in business, engineering, technology, and/or consulting.
At least 5 years of experience managing product management teams.
Proven business expertise to set clear priorities across the product portfolio and drive business value.
In-depth knowledge of and ability to influence business strategy.
Strong communication and influence skills with the reporting line and IT and business peers.
Excellent collaboration skills, including leading execution across teams and influencing across organizations.
Experience working across organizational levels, from developers and designers.
Passion for improving customer outcomes and experiences.
Willingness to embrace change and unconventional ideas rather than remain attached to the status quo.
Ability to encourage a non-hierarchical culture.

Responsibilities

Translate portfolio-level business objectives, including increasing sales to independent agents through improved digital quoting and binding, into technology product strategies.
Ensure customer satisfaction and progress in the transformation to Agile development methodology.
Work with business units to translate business strategy into product strategies that support overall business objectives.
Communicate the product vision broadly and effectively to key stakeholders and senior management on behalf of the business.
Allocate investment across products and ensure sufficient resources.
Own the overall product backlog and provide guidance to product owners on scrum teams contributing to the overall effort.
Use the overall backlog to coordinate work across product teams through each team’s product owner.
Order work at the product level and accept the final release plan.
Manage final escalations on trade-offs across the product portfolio.
Provide customer-oriented feedback on product and feature demonstrations for scrum sub-teams.
Lead Agile product teams and directly manage Product Owners and other Agile development team roles.
Define objectives and development plans aligned with IT and business objectives.
Manage the team to achieve business results.
Champion Agile development transformation through contributions to Agile education initiatives and communication of Agile principles to executive audiences.
Monitor the application of Agile principles across product teams.
