About The Position

Bicara Therapeutics is seeking a Senior Director, IT Business Partner (Commercial, Medical & Patient Engagement) to play a pivotal role in shaping and delivering the company’s digital strategy across Medical Affairs, Commercial, and Patient-focused functions. This individual will lead the design and execution of a scalable, compliant, and data-driven technology ecosystem that supports Medical operations today and enables Commercial launch readiness. Reporting to the VP of IT and partnering closely with the Commercial, Medical Affairs, Market Access, and Patient Advocacy teams, this role is critical in ensuring that Bicara’s digital capabilities are aligned with business strategy, regulatory requirements, and long-term growth objectives. This role forms a critical pillar of the IT Leadership Team, playing a central role in shaping and executing Bicara’s future digital ecosystem. This role is based in our Boston office and follows a hybrid schedule, with three in-office days each week.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree (MBA or equivalent) preferred.
  • 10+ years of experience in IT within biotech or pharmaceutical organizations.
  • Deep experience supporting Medical Affairs, Commercial, or Patient Engagement functions.
  • Strong understanding of CRM platforms (Veeva preferred), MLR systems, and commercial data ecosystems.
  • Experience working in a pre-commercial or emerging biotech environment.
  • Proven ability to lead cross-functional initiatives and influence stakeholders.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to translate complex concepts into clear, actionable insights.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as the primary IT partner to Medical Affairs, Commercial, Market Access, and Patient Advocacy teams, ensuring strong alignment between business priorities and technology solutions
  • Translate business strategy into a clear, phased digital roadmap spanning Medical through Commercial launch and beyond
  • Partner with senior leadership to shape launch readiness strategy, ensuring systems and data decisions are scalable and fit for commercialization
  • Contribute to cross-functional planning and provide strategic input into business and operational decisions
  • Oversee external vendors, CROs, and system integrators to ensure successful execution
  • Support planning, budgeting, and prioritization processes related to digital and IT investments
  • Provide clear, structured communication and updates to leadership on progress, risks, and opportunities
  • Lead the design and implementation of a unified digital ecosystem supporting CRM and field engagement (e.g., Veeva CRM), MLR and content management (e.g., PromoMats / MedComms), publications, grants, and medical information systems, patient engagement and support platforms (e.g., hub services, case management), commercial operations systems (e.g., pricing, GTN, contracts, incentive compensation),
  • Transition from vendor-managed tools to scalable, sponsor-owned platforms
  • Ensure seamless integration across CRM, content, patient systems, and platforms
  • Collaborate with IT infrastructure teams to enable digital capabilities for Medical Science Liaisons (MSLs) and future Commercial field teams
  • Deliver solutions that support KOL engagement, territory alignment, targeting, and segmentation
  • Partner with Medical and Commercial teams to drive adoption, training, and effective use of field systems
  • Support Patient Advocacy and Market Access teams through implementation of systems that enable patient support, and access
  • Ensure patient-related systems are compliant with privacy regulations (e.g., HIPAA) and integrated into the broader data ecosystem.
  • Enable insights into patient journey, access barriers, and program effectiveness.
  • Define and implement a scalable data strategy across Medical, Commercial, and Patient domains.
  • Enable data capabilities HCP/KOL master data, field engagement and claims
  • Partner with stakeholders to deliver analytics and insights supporting field effectiveness, KOL engagement and commercial decision-making
  • Ensure all systems meet applicable regulatory and compliance requirements, including GxP, 21 CFR Part 11, HIPAA, and Sunshine Act reporting.
