About The Position

The Senior Director, Human Resources is a key member of the HR leadership team, responsible for driving the HR strategy and execution for the company's operational workforce across warehouse, transportation, and data center environments. This role leads a team of four HR Directors, each supporting designated operating regions or business units, and serves as the primary HR partner to Operations leadership. While the Vice President, Human Resources owns the enterprise-wide HR strategy and oversees the centers of excellence (Compensation, Talent Acquisition, Learning & Development, Employee Relations, etc.), the Senior HR Director, Operations is accountable for translating those programs into effective, on-the-ground execution across a large, distributed, frontline workforce. This individual ensures consistency, compliance, and quality of HR delivery across all operational sites, and partners closely with centralized functions — particularly Employee Relations — to ensure operational realities and frontline needs are reflected in program design and case handling.

Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or related field (or equivalent experience)
  • 10+ years of progressive HR leadership experience, including experience supporting frontline/hourly, multi-site operations
  • Prior experience managing or leading other HR professionals/managers
  • Strong working knowledge of employment law, wage and hour regulations, and HR compliance requirements for hourly/non-exempt populations
  • Demonstrated ability to influence senior operational leaders and act as a credible, strategic business partner
  • Willingness and ability to travel 25%+ to warehouse, transportation, and data center sites

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in 3rd party logistics (3PL), supply chain, distribution, transportation, or related industries
  • Experience supporting both warehouse/DC and transportation (driver) workforces
  • Experience managing HR through peak/seasonal volume cycles
  • PHR/SPHR or SHRM-CP/SHRM-SCP certification
  • Experience with labor relations or union-avoidance strategy

Responsibilities

  • Lead, coach, and develop a team of HR Directors, each responsible for HR delivery within their assigned region, district, or business unit
  • Set clear priorities, performance expectations, and accountability standards for the HR Director team
  • Build organizational capability and bench strength within the HR Operations team to support company growth
  • Partner with VP, HR with Talent Reviews and succession planning for Key positions.
  • Foster a consistent, high-performing HR service model across all operational sites

  • Translate business strategy and operational goals into proactive HR plans that support productivity, retention, safety, and engagement
  • Participate in operational leadership meetings, providing HR insight into workforce planning, labor trends, and organizational health
  • Anticipate workforce challenges tied to peak season, network expansion, site openings/closures, and volume fluctuations
  • Partner closely with the centralized Employee Relations team to ensure ER matters across warehouse, transportation, and data center populations are surfaced promptly, supported locally, and resolved consistently
  • Serve as the operational point of escalation between site/HR Director-level issues and the centralized ER team, providing operational context and ensuring timely, accurate information flow
  • Support HR Directors in properly identifying, documenting, and escalating ER cases to the centralized team rather than managing resolution independently
  • Monitor labor relations risk and trends at the site level, partnering with the VP, HR and centralized ER/Legal teams on labor strategy, organizing activity, or union-related matters where applicable
  • Champion a positive employee experience for frontline and hourly populations, reinforcing consistent application of ER policies developed centrally
  • Partner closely with Talent Acquisition to ensure staffing strategies meet the high-volume, fast-paced hiring demands of warehouse and transportation operations, including seasonal/peak hiring surges
  • Partner with Compensation to ensure pay practices, incentive programs, and job structures are competitive and consistently applied across operational roles
  • Partner with Learning & Development to drive frontline leadership development, supervisor/manager training, and onboarding programs tailored to operations
  • Ensure consistent rollout and adoption of enterprise HR programs, policies, and initiatives across all sites led by the HR Director team
  • Partner with the VP, HR to execute employee engagement initiatives and action plans across Operations, supporting a positive employee experience and continuous improvement
  • Ensure HR practices across operational sites comply with federal, state, and local employment law, including wage and hour, leave management, and safety regulations
  • Partner with Safety/EHS teams on workforce-related safety initiatives and incident response
  • Maintain audit-readiness and consistent documentation standards across the HR Director team's sites
  • Track and report on key workforce metrics (turnover, time-to-fill, engagement, safety incidents, ER trends) across the operations HR portfolio
  • Identify trends across sites/regions and develop targeted action plans to address turnover, engagement, or performance gaps
  • Drive standardization of HR processes and best-practice sharing across the HR Director team
  • Drive consistent execution of performance management practices, talent calibration, and accountability across operational leadership teams
