About The Position

Darkroom is hiring a Senior Director, Creative Strategy to serve as the creative lead for a dedicated enterprise client account launching a new product. The role owns the brand’s creative story, spanning brand positioning and messaging through the execution of individual ads. Rather than supporting a broad portfolio of clients, this position focuses deeply on one account, partnering with client leadership to establish creative direction and working hands-on with designers and editors to refine work across paid media, social, and retention channels. The role leads full-funnel creative strategy and integrated campaigns, balancing brand-building with performance. It combines executive-level client leadership and team management with practical involvement in copywriting, creative direction, production, testing, performance analysis, and asset development. The Senior Director will also develop processes, frameworks, and AI-enabled workflows to maintain creative quality as output grows.

Requirements

  • At least 6 years of experience in creative strategy, brand marketing, or creative leadership, including at least 3 years at Director level or above.
  • Brand marketing experience shaping positioning, messaging, and brand voice for consumer brands, in-house or at an agency.
  • Experience leading creative across paid, social, and retention, including Meta and TikTok ads, organic social, and email/SMS.
  • Experience directing large-scale integrated campaigns, including out-of-home (OOH), from concept through launch and results.
  • Strong writing skills and the ability to lead copy and messaging directly.
  • A portfolio of proven brand-scale and go-to-market case studies covering brand, performance, and campaigns across formats such as statics, short-form video, motion, OOH, and lifecycle, with context on results.
  • Experience owning production end to end, from brief and pre-production through shoot, post-production, and delivery, on time and on budget.
  • Knowledge of creative and performance metrics such as thumb-stop rate, 3-second hold, hook retention, CTR, and CPA, and ability to use them to determine what to test next.
  • Ability to work directly with designers and editors, storyboard, provide frame-by-frame feedback, and use Figma or Adobe Creative Suite to polish assets.
  • Experience using AI tools such as Claude, Midjourney, Perplexity, Runway, or similar to increase speed and volume, including shipping work with AI-assisted elements.
  • Experience managing and growing creative teams; ability to lead with clarity, direct feedback, and high standards.
  • Enterprise client and stakeholder management experience, including keeping senior client stakeholders aligned.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication, including presenting to senior clients.
  • High ownership and accountability for programs and outcomes, from brief through delivery.
  • High emotional intelligence, low ego, composure under pressure, and ability to give and receive direct feedback.
  • Must have brand marketing or positioning experience; performance-only experience without a brand point of view is not a fit.
  • Must have paid social creative experience on Meta or TikTok.
  • Must be able to lead copy and messaging.
  • Must provide a portfolio link with context on results.
  • Must be hands-on with designers and editors; strategy-only experience is not a fit.
  • Must be excellent in client presentations and salesmanship.

Responsibilities

  • Lead copy and messaging end to end, including messaging frameworks, taglines, campaign lines, advertising copy, email, and SMS.
  • Lead full-funnel creative strategy across paid media, organic social, and retention channels, ensuring each channel supports a unified brand story.
  • Concept and lead product-launch and subsequent integrated campaigns from idea and briefs through production, launch, and measurement.
  • Own the creative testing roadmap, including test priorities, hypotheses, and definitions of success before media spend begins.
  • Work directly with designers and editors to brief static, motion, short-form video, UGC, and storyboard work; provide tactical feedback on design, pacing, and edit structure; and contribute hands-on in Figma or editing tools when useful.
  • Analyze performance across paid media, social, and retention, including advertising metrics, open and click rates, and repeat purchases, and use findings to inform future concepts.
  • Present creative strategy and campaigns to client leadership, own the account’s creative relationship, and address client feedback and pushback.
  • Partner daily with Paid Media, Analytics, and the client’s program leads to align creative and media.
  • Lead the account’s creative team, raise the standard of craft, and build processes, frameworks, and AI-enabled workflows that support quality as creative volume grows.
  • Own production from brief and pre-production through shoot, post-production, and delivery, on time and on budget.
  • Manage and develop creative teams with clear direction, direct feedback, and high standards.
  • Keep enterprise stakeholders, from client C-suite leaders to program leads, aligned while maintaining momentum.
  • Take programs from brief to delivery and remain accountable for outcomes.
