About The Position

Monks is seeking a seasoned Senior Designer for an embedded creative team producing rapid-turn editorial, digital, and marketing content. This is a temporary, full-time position expected to run through March 31, 2027. The role is based onsite at a client’s office in Menlo Park, California, 4–5 days per week, working directly with client stakeholders and coordinating with distributed creative teams across locations and time zones. The position is centered on high-quality visual and digital design, including typography, layout, design systems, and storytelling. The designer owns deliverables from brief through final export, primarily creating static design while also incorporating motion graphics, UI animation, and basic video editing. The role calls for autonomy, executive presence, decisive creative judgment, and the ability to adapt to changing requirements and tight deadlines while maintaining established brand systems and a high standard of craft. The designer will use Figma and shared design-system resources to create responsive, accessible digital layouts; use approved generative AI tools and workflows to support production; and turn technical concepts, product architecture, and data into clear visual explanations. The role also involves presenting work to client leads, managing ambiguity, conducting detailed quality checks, and handling confidential client information discreetly.

Requirements

  • 6–8+ years of design experience across digital, visual, web, or brand design in an agency, technology organization, or high-velocity in-house creative team.
  • Exceptional visual judgment and expertise in layout hierarchy, typography, composition, color theory, and art direction.
  • Practical experience with After Effects and basic video post-production, including animating UI elements, creating social cuts, and delivering video-integrated assets.
  • Hands-on experience integrating generative AI tools and model workflows into production pipelines.
  • Strong executive presence and communication skills, with the ability to defend creative decisions and build trust independently.
  • Mastery of advanced Figma tools, including components, variants, auto layout, variables, and cross-platform design systems.
  • Ability to translate abstract or highly technical concepts into clear, engaging diagrams and visual narratives.
  • Ability to work through fast turnarounds, adapt quickly, and maintain high standards under changing requirements.
  • Professional fluency in written and spoken English, with clear, proactive cross-functional communication.

Responsibilities

  • Drive creative execution of editorial, marketing, and web deliverables while applying and thoughtfully evolving brand guidelines, component systems, and templates.
  • Own deliverables from brief through final export, producing static designs and integrating motion snippets, UI animation, or video assembly as needed.
  • Present work to client leads, explain design rationale, resolve ambiguity in real time, and guide projects forward without daily supervision.
  • Use approved generative AI models and prompt workflows to accelerate ideation, address technical constraints, and increase creative production capacity.
  • Translate technical concepts, product architecture, and data into infographics, diagrams, charts, and interactive layouts.
  • Design responsive, accessible digital layouts in Figma using shared libraries, tokens, variables, and reusable component architectures.
  • Conduct rigorous quality checks on typography, alignment, responsiveness, animation timing, and technical specifications before delivery.
  • Adapt to shifting requirements and rapid revisions while preserving design-system integrity and aesthetic quality.
  • Handle confidential, unreleased product information and strategic client intellectual property discreetly.
  • Work in person with client partners in Menlo Park while coordinating with distributed creative teams and maintaining core client hours, with flexibility around urgent milestones.
