Senior Designer
About The Position
H&R Block is seeking a Senior Product Designer to shape intuitive digital experiences that help clients navigate taxes, finances, and related services throughout the year. The designer will work with Product Managers, Engineers, and other designers to solve complex problems and bring ideas to life through prototyping, experimentation, and customer feedback. The role contributes to product strategy and the evolution of design systems and practices, balancing strong design craft with learning and iteration. It suits someone comfortable working independently and tackling ambiguous challenges. The position focuses on responsive web products and workflows, from concept through delivery. The designer will translate customer needs, business goals, and research insights into effective product experiences; present solutions and rationale to cross-functional stakeholders; and improve experiences through experimentation and product learnings. Modern design and prototyping tools, including AI-assisted workflows where appropriate, are used in the work. The listed pay range is $89,800 to $134,700 per year. Eligible associates may participate in incentive compensation or short-term incentive plans, subject to plan terms.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Design, Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), a related field, or equivalent practical experience.
- 5+ years of experience designing end-to-end digital product experiences for responsive web applications.
- Strong portfolio demonstrating user-centered design, interaction design, visual design, and product thinking.
- Experience partnering closely with Product Managers and Engineers to deliver customer-focused solutions from concept through launch.
- Experience creating, testing, and refining prototypes based on customer feedback, experimentation, and product outcomes.
- Strong communication skills, comfort working independently in ambiguous environments, and commitment to accessibility and usability best practices.
Nice To Haves
- Experience planning and conducting user research, including interviews, usability testing, and other discovery methods, and translating findings into product decisions.
- Ability to incorporate quantitative and qualitative insights to identify opportunities and improve customer experiences.
- Experience creating high-fidelity prototypes and partnering closely with engineers through implementation.
- Familiarity with AI-assisted design tools, emerging design technologies, and designing AI-powered or automation-driven experiences.
- Experience contributing to or working within an enterprise design system, including components, patterns, and documentation.
- Strong visual design skills and experience designing products in financial services, fintech, tax, or other regulated industries, with the ability to translate complex requirements into intuitive customer experiences.
Responsibilities
