About the position
As a Senior Data Scientist at Marqeta, you will be responsible for devising a comprehensive metrics-driven framework to track product performance and operational efficiency within the Card Program Management Organization. You will lead internal meetings to track progress and support ad-hoc complex analysis to identify emerging trends and potential issues. Additionally, you will build automation through scripting and collaborate with cross-functional teams to implement data elements needed for end-to-end business performance tracking. This role requires expertise in SQL, proficiency in technical skills such as Python, and experience in payments, financial services, or Fintech.
Responsibilities
- Devise the metrics and performance tracking framework for the Card Program Management Organization
- Partner with cross-functional teams to bring the metrics driven performance framework to life
- Support the needs of external partners in functions such as Compliance, Revenue, Legal, and Product
- Help with light-weight process automation through scripts
- Possess strong SQL skills
- Act as the department-specific data lead and partner with central data and engineering teams
- Improve end-to-end processes to yield better customer experiences
- Build a comprehensive metrics driven framework to track product performance and operational efficiency
- Lead internal monthly and ad-hoc Run the Business meetings to track progress
- Build automation through Python scripting or other methods to reduce repetitive tasks
- Support ad-hoc complex analysis to identify potential issues or emerging trends
- Proxy metrics where current methods are not suitable and build a roadmap for implementing necessary data elements
- Build out the analytics function within the Card Program Management organization
- Lead planning and resourcing efforts for efficient and data-driven execution
Requirements
- 2-5 Years of experience in payments, financial services and/or Fintech
- Expert-level SQL skills, including 5+ years experience working with large data sets
- Intermediate to advanced technical skills (e.g. Python, R, or other automation-focused languages)
- Proficiency with dashboard and/or business intelligence tools
