Detailed research on property tax information for complex taxpayer problems, court cases, condemnation suits, and other research projects will be conducted, with findings communicated to taxpayers and reports prepared for department administration. The role includes maintaining confidential taxpayer files, processing and recording payment transactions, monitoring and verifying source documents, calculating interest and penalties on delinquent accounts, and preparing adjustment forms for refunds and re-applications. Additionally, the representative will research and prepare tax release documents, process Platt tax payments, and handle various documents and reports for bankruptcy cases, splits and combines, condemnations, delinquent notices, and state auctions. Daily updates to the tax roll, including changes in ownership, values, exemptions, and legal descriptions, will be assisted with. Processing and preparing interest and penalty removals, payment under protest money, Top 10 Taxpayers lists, 10-year tax searches, and condemnations are also part of the duties. Responding to tax roll and tax-related questions orally and in writing, and reviewing system entries and data processed reports are required. The role performs varied customer service functions, acting as a liaison for volunteer groups and taxpayers in specialty areas, engaging in collection efforts on delinquent taxes, and performing clerical, microfilming, and coverage tasks.
