Senior Customer Advocacy Program Manager

Temporal Technologies
•$128,000 - $210,000•Remote

About The Position

Temporal is hiring its first Customer Advocacy team member to partner with the Director in building and operating the company’s customer advocacy system. The role develops trusted relationships with advocates and Sales teams, identifies customer advocates and their areas of interest, and helps match customers to appropriate opportunities without over-asking them. The position owns day-to-day advocacy programs and processes, while contributing customer and field insights to the Director’s strategy. The role operates the reference program; sources, nurtures, and tracks advocates; helps establish intake, prioritization, approval, and consent processes; and builds a reliable, maintained source of customer evidence. It partners across Marketing, PR, Analyst Relations, Events, DevRel, Product, Sales, and community teams to activate customer stories and connect developer engagement with senior engineering advocacy. The position also supports reporting on advocacy activity and impact, creates feedback loops for customer insights, and uses AI and automation to scale advocacy work while retaining human judgment over customer-facing outputs. Temporal is remote-first and engineering-led. Occasional travel, including to company offsites and Replay, is expected.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in customer advocacy, customer marketing, product marketing, or related program management.
  • Experience creating a program or function from scratch.
  • Experience building or running a reference program, including deal matching and tracking, while protecting customer relationships and avoiding over-asking.
  • Ability to direct or write strong, metrics-backed customer stories and manage the associated trackers, processes, and project plans.
  • Experience building and maintaining a customer evidence library and driving its adoption by Sales and other go-to-market teams.
  • Fluency with CRM and reporting tools; experience with Salesforce is relevant, and the candidate must be able to demonstrate advocacy’s influence on pipeline and revenue.
  • Ability to influence and deliver outcomes across Sales, Marketing, Product, PR, Content, and community teams without direct authority.
  • Experience using AI and automation to scale work and having built or shipped agents or workflows that save other teams time.
  • Willingness to learn how durable execution works and why developers and enterprises value it, and to recognize and accurately tell a strong Temporal story.
  • Curiosity and willingness to ask questions rather than pretend to know.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience with a developer, infrastructure, security, or other deeply technical product and audience.
  • Experience running or supporting a Customer Advisory Board, champions program, or executive advisory group.
  • Experience with Gong or other conversation intelligence tools, and advocacy or reference platforms.
  • Experience partnering with PR on press, analyst, and speaking programs, or running an awards program.
  • PMP, Six Sigma, or similar program management credential.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted point of contact for advocates and Sales, understanding each advocate’s story, relationship owner, comfort level, and readiness for opportunities.
  • Operate the reference program, including shaping requests, matching advocates to opportunities, tracking, preparation, and follow-up.
  • Identify, nurture, and track advocates across Sales, Tech Services, DevRel, Product, and the community.
  • Partner with the Director to establish intake, prioritization, approval, and customer-permission processes, coordinating early with Legal and account teams.
  • Audit existing customer stories, quotes, use cases, and proof points; determine what is current or should be retired; and establish a trusted source of truth with owners, permissions, and validation dates.
  • Work with Product Marketing, Content, Creative, and PR to activate customers through launch quotes, case studies, technical deep dives, video, events, and keynote narratives.
  • Partner with PR, Analyst Relations, and Events to identify customers ready and willing to participate in press, speaking, analyst, and awards opportunities.
  • Work with DevRel and community leaders, including Constellation and DevDays, to help engaged developers and internal champions connect with senior engineering leaders who can advocate for Temporal.
  • Track references, stories, and evidence in relation to deals, pipeline, retention, and expansion; monitor advocate health, reference readiness, field usage, and story range; and prepare regular leadership reporting.
  • Create a process for sharing customer insights with Product, PMM, Sales, and leadership.
  • Build or partner on AI agents and workflows that match references to prospects, identify underused advocates, and accelerate story drafting, using human judgment for customer-facing outputs.
