About The Position

This role is for a Senior Credit Reporting Operations Specialist who is a compliance and credit reporting expert, understanding consumer credit reporting, dispute investigations, FCRA requirements, and Metro 2 reporting standards. The specialist will investigate issues, gather facts, review account histories, analyze supporting documentation, and determine accurate dispute outcomes while maintaining meticulous documentation. They will manage the full lifecycle of direct and indirect credit disputes, ensuring accuracy and adherence to regulatory and internal service level requirements. The role also focuses on quality and risk management by identifying reporting errors, documentation gaps, compliance concerns, and recurring trends. Collaboration with various teams, including members, lending, collections, compliance, legal, operations, and credit bureaus, is essential. The specialist will also analyze dispute trends and identify process improvements to strengthen reporting accuracy, workflows, controls, and the overall member experience. This position is critical for protecting member trust, ensuring fair and accurate credit reporting, and supporting the credit union's commitment to regulatory excellence and exceptional member service.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 3 years of experience in financial services, lending, collections, loan servicing, compliance, credit reporting, or related operations
  • At least 1 year of experience supporting investigations, dispute resolution, case management, or similar operational functions
  • Working knowledge of consumer credit reporting requirements, dispute investigation standards, FCRA, and CDIA Credit Reporting Resource Guide (CRRG) guidance
  • Strong analytical, research, problem-solving, and decision-making skills
  • Ability to prepare clear, professional, and compliance-defensible documentation and case records
  • Experience managing multiple priorities and deadlines in a high-volume environment
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills with a strong member-service mindset
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite
  • Experience working with case management systems and research tools
  • High School Diploma, GED, or equivalent required

Responsibilities

  • Manage the full lifecycle of direct and indirect credit disputes, ensuring cases are handled accurately, thoroughly, and within regulatory and internal service level requirements.
