About The Position

This is a new role and the founding seat of Bankrate’s Marketing Creative pod — but it’s not a traditional creative director seat. We’re looking for an AI-native creative leader who pairs sharp creative judgment with deep AI fluency to drive revenue and elevate the brand through creative produced and tested at scale, across every channel. You’ll set the standard for what “good” looks like — visually and verbally — and then build the AI tooling and workflows that let Bankrate hit that standard at a volume and velocity a conventional team can’t match — not by replacing judgment with automation, but by multiplying what one strong creative point of view can do. One idea becomes dozens of channel-native variants; those variants go live, get tested, and let performance data decide which of your on-brand ideas wins. You’ll own the full arc: the judgment that makes the work worth shipping, the systems that ship it fast, and the results that tie it back to revenue and brand lift.

Requirements

  • AI-native, human-led: You’re an expert with modern AI creative and copy tools — building repeatable workflows, not one-off prompts — and you have a point of view on where the tooling is headed. But that fluency is leverage, not the job: human judgment is still what makes the work good.
  • Strategic discernment & good judgment: Given ten versions of the same ad, you know immediately which one’s worth testing — and can explain why in terms your team can act on. That judgment holds across formats and disciplines: a scroll-stopping performance ad, a copy line that needs one more edit, a data claim that has to be airtight before it ships, or a polished video.
  • Team builder: You’ve hired, coached, and gotten the best out of creative talent — and you know how to build a small, judgment-led team that does more because of the AI systems around it, not despite them.
  • Art direction + copywriting range: Primary strength in either art direction or copywriting, with genuine working fluency in the other — you can direct or execute across both without needing someone else to translate.
  • Revenue + brand fluency: You speak performance marketing — paid, lifecycle, organic, brand — and you’re comfortable pulling data, briefs, and campaign plans into one coherent creative direction that moves revenue while protecting the brand.
  • Velocity mindset: You default to ship, test, and learn — trusting a few strong variants and real performance data to find the winner faster than solo second-guessing ever could. For you, iteration is how craft gets sharper, not a shortcut around it.
  • Strong communicator: You can walk stakeholders through creative rationale, take feedback without getting precious about it, and know when to push back on a brief versus when to execute it as given.

Responsibilities

  • Build and run Bankrate’s marketing production pipeline — the tooling and workflows that turn a single concept into a library of on-brand, channel-native variants ready to test — freeing your team to spend their time on judgment calls instead of repetitive production.
  • Use that volume to test relentlessly across every channel, let data (not opinion) pick winners, and tie creative output directly to pipeline and revenue. Speed of learning is the point.
  • Own what "great" looks like across paid, lifecycle, organic social, and brand — and hold that bar whether an asset was made by a person or a model. Your judgment is the quality gate on everything the pod and self-serve tools produce.
  • Be the connective tissue between the Head of Design, Head of Performance Marketing, Director of Brand, and Product Marketing Lead.
  • As the case for each hire comes together, build a small team with that same judgment and manage the freelancers or agencies that flex capacity in the meantime — all powered by the AI systems you stand up.
