Senior Core Infrastructure Engineer

Oracle•Santa Clara, CA

About The Position

Join Oracle Cloud Infrastructure's (OCI) Object Storage Metadata Service (MDS) team to design, develop, and operate distributed metadata infrastructure that powers OCI Object Storage at cloud scale. The role addresses metadata consistency, scalability, performance, fault tolerance, and high availability, and calls for hands-on systems programming, end-to-end ownership, and an AI-first approach to engineering productivity. The engineer will build and improve foundational metadata infrastructure, strengthen the scalability and operational efficiency of distributed storage services, and deliver production-ready infrastructure capabilities. The role also contributes to engineering quality through technical leadership, mentorship, automation, and continuous improvement. The position involves production operations, including monitoring, troubleshooting, incident response, root cause analysis, and on-call rotations. It also includes collaboration with engineers, architects, and partner teams on design and code reviews, documentation, and knowledge sharing.
