About The Position

OCI (Oracle Cloud Infrastructure) AI Infrastructure builds a high-performance GPU platform for AI, machine learning, and high-performance computing workloads, supporting customer deployments that scale from tens to thousands of GPUs. The team develops architectural improvements for GPU delivery, health monitoring, automated triage, and diagnostic services for distributed workloads using technologies such as RoCE and InfiniBand. The engineer designs, implements, and optimizes scalable, resilient, and operable distributed-system components. The role includes delivering features and performance tests, using data-plane platforms and distributed-state tools for high-volume data retrieval, storage, and processing, and reviewing implementations for scalability. The engineer develops fault-tolerant systems and recovery mechanisms, monitors and mitigates operational issues, contributes to incident response and root-cause analyses, and implements replication, synchronization, troubleshooting and maintenance automation, and security controls while following change, compliance, and documentation standards.

Requirements

BS or MS degree in Computer Science or a relevant technical field involving coding, or equivalent practical experience.
Deep understanding of operating systems, computer networks, and high-performance applications.
At least 6 years of experience delivering and operating large-scale production systems (1,000+ server instances).
Proficiency in one programming language: Java, Python, C, C++, Go, or shell scripting.
Systematic problem-solving approach, strong communication skills, ownership, and drive.
Proven ability to deliver products and experience with the full software development lifecycle.

Nice To Haves

Strong background in Linux systems.
Familiarity with system-level architecture, data synchronization, fault tolerance, and state management.
General enterprise storage, networking, or computing experience.
Experience with server/GPU hardware architecture and system management.
Experience with InfiniBand or RoCE networking.
Hands-on experience designing, developing, and operating public cloud service data planes.
Good understanding of databases and SQL (MySQL) and caching technologies such as Redis and Memcache.

Responsibilities

Design, implement, and optimize distributed-system components with an emphasis on scalability, resiliency, and operability.
Deliver features and load/performance tests; use data-plane platforms and distributed-state tools for high-volume retrieval, storage, and processing.
Review peers’ implementations for scalability compliance.
Build fault-tolerant paths using redundancy, replication, and automatic failover, and apply recovery-oriented principles.
Implement retries, circuit breakers, and timeouts.
Detect and mitigate issues proactively through tests, alarms, dashboards, and telemetry.
Author runbooks and participate in incident response and root-cause analyses.
Implement standard replication and synchronization.
Develop automation and infrastructure as code for troubleshooting and maintenance.
Apply security controls, including encryption, access controls, and remediation, while meeting change, compliance, and documentation standards.
