About The Position

This position is responsible for the daily supervision and coordination of nursing care in the HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C Clinic. The role involves the immediate coordination of all staff within the clinic, ensuring adherence to policies and procedures. Responsibilities include providing preservice training and orientation, managing supervisory duties such as hiring, performance appraisals, and disciplinary actions. The position also participates in budget development and control for the HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C programs. Additionally, the role coordinates quality improvement studies, collects clinic statistics, and completes program reports. The incumbent will maintain and improve professional knowledge, ensure staff complete mandatory training, and manage inventory of pharmaceuticals and clinic supplies. Client services include direct care in the absence of staff, HIV pre- and post-test counseling, initiating treatment for HIV positive clients, and counseling clients with positive Sexually Transmitted Diseases.

Requirements

  • A valid Florida Registered Nurse License
  • A valid Florida driver’s license
  • An automobile is required for this position.

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for the daily supervision and coordination of nursing care in the HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C Clinic.
  • Responsible for the immediate coordination of all staff in the HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C Clinic.
  • Assures that policies and procedures are being followed by monitoring the nursing care and services.
  • Provides preservice training and orientation for all staff under her coordination and required orientation and documentation for Ryan White requirements.
  • Responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate.
  • Participates in the development of the budgets for HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C programs and assures budget control and a balanced budget.
  • Coordinates quality improvement studies for HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C programs.
  • Assures corrective action plans are implemented.
  • Collects HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C clinic statistics as requested by supervisor.
  • Completes all Ryan White and Hepatitis C program reports accurately and completely and submit as required.
  • Participates in HIV/AIDS site review and telephone reviews.
  • Maintains and improves professional knowledge and skills through attending staff meetings, workshops and seminars.
  • Ensures that all staff complete mandatory training and yearly update for HIV/AIDS counseling, make available continuing education on HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C.
  • Ensures prompt and proper treatment of clients with positive Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
  • Maintains inventory of pharmaceuticals and clinic supplies.
  • Assures review of all HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C laboratory reports.
  • Assures follow-up on abnormal or missing lab work.
  • Reviews daily schedules and manages staffing as required to accommodate schedule.
  • Reviews and updates policies related to HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C programs.
  • Performs client chart reviews to assure QI and QA.
  • Provides direct CHN services in the absence of the HIV/AIDS and Hepatitis C nursing staff.
  • Receives and returns telephone calls to clients.
  • HIV pretest and posttest counseling.
  • Initiates Test and Treat and Intakes for HIV positive clients.
  • Refers follow-up to the MD or appropriate source.
  • Interviews and records results of medical history and limited pre-exam physical findings.
  • Counsels clients via telephone or in person regarding abnormal laboratory tests.
  • Offers and provides follow-up and resolves client questions and/or problems.
  • Performs counseling and treatment for HIV/AIDS or Hepatitis C clients with positive Sexually Transmitted Diseases.
  • Performs other related duties as assigned.
